Although I had a pretty bad case of PVD feet, this night was still a lot of fun! Austin's set was great, in spite of the light crowd there that early (Vanguard was passing out loads of free tickets for Saturday when I was there, and I'm sure that many others passed out from PVD the night before, see separate review).
Ran into Michelle and Piet's other naughty school girls, and I looked up to Michelle for a change (those boots were made for dancin')!
Took a break from Jon's set, went outside and witnessed a rare Benno sighting (Rank 1= Piet Bervoets + Benno de Goeij)! Chatted with Benno and Riia for awhile, was really inspired that Benno had no musical production experience before meeting up with Piet but with his good ear for music, maybe even two, landed the hit "Airwave" at Rank 1 on the charts)!

Piet really lit up the decks at 1, and all of a sudden the floor is almost full! Halfway during the set, Benno played "Airwave" live on the keyboard while Piet was spinning and the crowd just went crazy! Will try and get my video of that up soon. Off to the back room a few times where Woody was playing some excellent tracks including WoW "Mindcircus", G&D remix. Piet ended the set with a really hard track...I didn't like it, but if we all liked the same music then this world would be a dull place! :D |

| airwave...omg yes that was an awesome moment... always have loved that track... there is like a permanent duplicate of the video in my head... was have flashbacks of that and random mountain roads I used to speed my way through while listening to Cyber Trance Cds, well anyways... this was a good night for trance, I was not prepared for such a energetic night.... Im totally drained now... think i neeed to go recharge with some ambient for a few days... then sleep the rest of the week to prepare for the inevitable chaos next weekend. |

had an amazing time last night!!!!! michelle, kris, my friend grady and kara get to the club around 9:30 and enter to the sweet sounds of austin scott in the main room. excellent warm up set, very nice to dance to as always! so great to see all the san diego peeps up for the support!!!!!
jon obir just let loose and killed the main room from 11-1. i bounced around a little to try and catch all the talent in every room but was hard to leave the main room. heard that piet and benno were upstairs and had to go say hi and meet benno, the elusive other half of rank 1. finished up dancing to jon's set, and it was great, had the main room jumping from start to finish. again, you are forgiven for being an hour and a half late friday :D
then of course what i was waiting for piet! and he takes over and all is good for the next 3 hours :tongue2 great meeting and talking with benno, dude sorry about the prunaciation of your name, lol, and everything else. i was a bit loopy but had a great time.
hearing airwave live was pretty incredible and all the other great tracks that were dropped. everytime i would talk to someone during the set i would hear, OMG this is my favorite song! piet dropped a ton of massive tracks. nice and hard just like i like it! and yes, piet i like them hard, fast, aggressive and assultive. and no i won't be dropping you from my top favs.
so great seeing all the TAs as always, celebrating birthdays and just plain having fun. my little naughty school girl partner in crime michelle, the sign rocked and was so much fun to play with throughout the night. pretty f-ing funny. was a great night. seemed to fly by and the end came too quickly but i'm sure it will be very soon again before piet comes back to visit. thanks for the early birthday present, you made me dance like crazy :eyes:
sorry again jon for giving you all night, but it was fun. thanks to spundae for another incredible night. looks like were off to the canteen for a little more fun before i fall into bed with sheer exhaustion. |

I had an amazing time last night. Jon O' Bir totally kicked ass, Rank 1 kicked ass too. Airwave really hit the spot (it was unexpected). Last night just seemed like a dream...
Surprisingly, the place wasn't as packed as I'd thought it would be, but hey... that really doesn't matter cuz I had more room for myself. It had been a while since I'd been back to Spundae and a lot has changed. A really big change too. Some familiar faces, and even more not-so-familiar ones. It was great seeing all the friendly Spundae staff after all that time.
I'll be back again for sure. Change IS good.

Nope, even though I told Benno something that Piet already heard from me: how much I hate Top Gear and similar recent tracks of theirs (as opposed to their earlier work). In fact, we had a very peaceful and honest discussion about the electro/tech movement and musical tastes. Maybe it's just that I'm not hot enough to have something thrown at me :p (We did get an explanation of what happened in Miami, FTR.) |

So my guess was right!!!
Piet said he had a surprise in another thread and I guessed he was bringing Benno to do something LIVE.
And I was right!! WHOOT.
And no, I did not know anything. Man, wish that would happen in SF. :p |
