there will always be ppl who are skeptical and there will always be haters..
john graham, when he came to Opus 22 was wack cuz it was more of a lounge than a club.. not too dark, no moving lights, just a nice booth at an awkward location with few ppl tryin to dance.. it wasnt such an easy sight looking at a man whos had countless quality productions under his belt with a residency at one of the most treasured venues in the city [twilo] playing at a lounge to like 30 ppl that looked clueless.
now when he came to Love, a much more proper place where djs can rock it, he did just that.. probably my fav. prog trance set i heard live this year...
i dont know how well Andy's gonna do cuz i personally never heard him live yet, but i am excited to find out. he is a great producer whos been in this game for quite awhile.. i respect everyone's opinions and all but on top of that, this is also my first event i am doing at Love with the United Underground crew.. we've all worked hard to bring in the talent, as well as the musical flow of the night consisting all djs scheduled to play. im making sure everything pans out efficiently from the the time it starts to finnish and i'll also promise dope beats will be provided as i have the pleasure of opening for Andy.
all in all, i dont see what the big deal is arguing over a $5 event. thats cheaper than a pack of cigarettes [for those that smoke, like me] i understand if the cost was at least $20 or something then it might be something more worthwhile to talk about.. anyway, hittin up satellite for some last minute grooves ~ see all you ******s on fri. peace. |

yeah john graham was awesome at love.. packed out the place... andy should do the same.. yeah everyone been working real hard on this night

like g&d, he's part of a whole class of producers-cum-djs and who skate by on spinning unimaginative pap with little or no thought put into actual programming. these people make a mockery of dj-ing and for the most part seem disinclined toward improving their skills.
real djs, even those i don't particularly care for, have, at the most basic level, an ability to actually construct something -- anything -- during their sets.
there are a few producers like bt and holden whose early sets were god-awful, but who took their dj-ing seriously and consequently improved by leaps and bounds. the oft-drunk moor is not one of them.
for 5 beans i suppose you really can't go wrong -- especially if you're going to support your opening peeps -- but there's a reason lawler is 20-30$ that goes beyond venue and hype.... |
It's funny how all this stuff is so subjective. I saw Lawler for the first time at WMC 2 years ago, and was not very impressed. I've heard other sets of his that were great, but that single night was lackluster IMO.
What fun would throwing an event be without some controversy :) Gooooo Andy! |

yea good call about Lawler. he played ing awesome @ Ultra in 2004 and when he came to Spirit in 2005, i went out support and tho he didnt suck, he was mediocre at best..
whatever rocks ya boat !~
