I was at calderone this past saturday in NYC .... been to crobar many times, but not for calderone ... what a party .. MIAMI STYLE .. miami?? ibiza style ... left at 7:40am and I felt i was the first one to leave the club .. didn't want to go really, but i realized i never like to leave clubs !! jeje
what a night really ....
speaking of the song in this website
http://www.myspace.com/spybar
i heard probably 8 times during the weekend in NYC ... bars, restaurants, pubs, etc .... what a song .....
I cant wait for miami next year .....i wonder what global gathering will bring in '07 ... the one in Miami was a lot better than the one in eh UK (stratford) audio level was 93dB ..... super quiet .... great DJ's and atmosphere, but i guess it's not only about the music, but the volume too ...
i am in wmc for 10 days .. i like staying at the holiday inn Downtown miami just because is super close to club space and it's not loud .. plus the view it's incredible ..
c u there |

love wmc - it only gets better every year. agreed that it's not all about the music, but there are music oriented shows - you just have to find them and stay the hell away from space etc. wmc is used by the dj's to showcase new tracks, party and relax, but nothing wrong with that IMO. it's the one time of the year that all of the industry folks get to see each other at the same time - so you can't blame them if they want to party with each other. i mean - how many times do you get to party with richie, beyer, magda, lee, loco dice, mandy, luciano etc? pretty freakin' cool if you ask me. pawnshop was clearly the party of wmc ;)
and by the time wmc rolls around in march i'm so ready for some warm weather. finally, the best thing about wmc is that you get to reconnect with other friends from around the world. |

I can definitely say that 2003 with Rubin & friends was the best time @ WMC for me. It was no BS... just have fun with everyone under the sun... god monday thru saturday just 1 mad party fest... we were able to have a good time @ ultra... it all clicked.
2005... sucked, end of story. all depends on eveyones situation and perception really.
I will only be going this March if playing in any events. otherwise i'd rather stay home and focus on trying to make a production career take off. |

Something I seem to forget (or maybe I've just been too dense to ever realize it).

no, from a clubber's point of view - blake is exactly right.
over half the shows i go to i dont even go for the music - just go to hang out with my friends, meet new people.
by the same token, when you go out often - your circle of friends is especially supplemented by your friends from clubs. i havent even spoken in 2 years with the people i hung out with on a daily basis 3-4 years ago |

It was $100 a ticket. For 5 1/2 hours of Sasha, Digweed and Desyn on a 4 story yacht with an open bar in the middle of the Biscayne bay, it was well worth it. Digweed was greeting people as they came on board and the entire atmosphere made everyone seem as if they were on the same level. It was a great opportunity to meet likeminded partiers and djs in a casual environment, everyone was having a great time. I'm not sure who your friends are, but I'd like to know how you got such a negative impression of the party. I won't be attending most of wmc in 2007, but if I can get a ticket for the yacht party again, I'll definitely be making the drive down to miami :) |

yuris, you don't like much music, at all. So I think that's a different issue. i.e. after every show, 9 times out of 10 you gloat about how much it sucked. Im exaggerating a bit here but yeah. kthxbye. |

it's not that it sucks
it's that it just doesn't impress me. i don't go to shows with massive expectations, but i would like a DJ make me turn my head around, kill the conversation i was just having and go "holy , did i just hear that"
rarely happens anymore.
so basically what i end up with is a highly overpriced bar, that plays good music where a lot of my good friends congregate, since i rarely dance anymore.
to be quite honest that is a major reason why i am starting to gravitate away from clubs and enjoy smaller lounges much more - local dj's nowadays tend to impress me much more so than international acts, people are having good conversations without having to cup their hands and shout into each other's ears and the atmosphere is much more laid back.
but that's just me.
Virgin Lounge last week? Loved that place within 10 minutes of walking in, there's just something about it that made my heart happy when i walked in for the first time. |
