lol...so ya I was invited to play afterhours at this big warehouse party. During regular hours its going to be all hip hop and rap. I'll be starting off the afterhours and I'm guessing I will have to keep it real housey. Prolly real dirty bangin electro house sounding.

Anybody with any experience playing for a crowd like this?

you should be fine playing that

just start out playing for you, if the crowd digs your vibe then you wont have to sell the music to them...make sense?

The hip hop crowds in the US can be real demanding at times but if it's afterhours their guards will usually be down.

thats waht pisses me off.. here, all the clubs( 2 of em )are hiphop, reggaeton, and other music

they sa house as one of the details but i dont even think their djs know what house is .. cuz they have a dj playing hiphop and house.. like wtf

but yea, start off housey and work on in

There is nothing more depressing then when you are playing some house and some idiot comes up and asks you to start playing house.

I play for both, the hip hop scene, and obviously the EDM scene. Honestly, it all depends on what type of hip hop crowd it is. If it's a latin crowd, forget it. You'll be lucky if you get away by playing radio cheese before someone comes up to you and asks "EXCUSE ME, CAN YOU PLAY SOME HIP HOP?"

The last time i ended up playing for a "hip hop" crowd my mixer was almost intentionally destroyed by a giant lummox who continuously demanded some "Fiddy," and upon being informed that house music was the soup du jour, he proceeded not only to deck 3 people I was with (sending one to the hospital with a broken nose), but also shoved two girls to the floor, and quite litereally "destroyed" the party.
