Apple tries to get more money over the most meaningless things.they can at least make $400 by selling a macbook with .16 ghz more..which is nothing.

Ok...does Toast only burn CUE files if they have a BIN to go with it?

Yes, the .cue file needs the .bin to read from.

Lame. I've never seen a BIN file that goes with a CUE file for mp3s.

His reason was that the macbook comes with a normal intel gma 64bit card where as the mbpro comes with an ati 128-256 option and that final cut will only be able to run on the ati card.

It'll work, just not very well. Otherwise you might as well either get a macbook pro for 1500$+ which is designed for this sort of thing or just get a PC.

i have 2 pc's and a pc laptop currently networked at home. one is for my mce the other is my p4 work machine. it's been dying slowly though so the ability to do some heavy work has been cut down significantly. I just bought an external hd so i'm in the middle of backing everything up.

once things get backed up i'll start looking at building a new at-home machine but for the mean time i need the mac book to hold me down.

RJT I NEED YOUR HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

What I'm doing

3 PCs are networked on my LAN, all with file sharing capabilities all on the same workgroup all on 1 switch which is connected to a router.

I drop the mac on the same switch and do the following:

Go > Network > Zephyr [zephyr is the name of one of my machines]
I'm able to get into my shared folders to start copying stuff over but for some reason it doesn't keep the connection. It will keep the connection during file transfer but it won't do something that PCs do, like MAP A DRIVE to the shared folder.

On a PC you can MAP a shared drive so that it's always accessible as long as both machines are on. Is there a way I can map these shared network drives on my Macbook? I really need to start moving crap over like 40GBs worth of sets and another 30gbs worth of PSP games, ISOs, Roms, and Emulators.

ANY HELP PLEASE?

Unfortunately, you seriously overestimate my technical prowess. :(

I can't even figure out how to set up a proper network between the 4 computers in my apartment - Beyond sharing an internet connection, I'm genuinely useless when it comes to any and all networking issues.

Sorry m8 - Wish I could help, there's plenty of this I'd like to know as well... But as I said, I'm ing clueless.

WHEW LOL ok I thought I was s.o.l when you pm'd me. Was waiting for an 'it's impossible it doesn't work like that stop thinking like a PC" so atleast it might be possible!

I don't see why it wouldn't maybe I should ask some people here at work.

Also, I was suggested to use AdiumX for my messaging program, i like it so far, it's decent but is there anything else I should be aware of that might be betterm, less art intensive more raw text formatted or is that simply executed with a theme?

Next thing, FTP, any suggestions? I installed the FTP extension for FF but have yet to test it. I'm sure it's sufficient for my needs.

Well, this I can help with. I use a program called Cyberduck and it works great - And is totally free.

Should be able to get it at Download.com :)
