Why do SO many people mispell my name? (akridRot) (pg. 2)

1. Yeah mezzir, I had a feeling I was misspelling misspell. that word, it is too much irony for one word.

2. Jdat, maybe people tend to skim things such as usernames and subvocalize what they skimmed. So if you didn't know that it was "Akrid rot" (Acrid rot), you'd probably stress the syllables differently and omit the R in your spellings and pronunciations. At least that's what I believe.

It could be my fault for not capitalizing the second R, but I feel that one word looks more aesthetically pleasing then two words or a dash/underscore in the middle.

So after years of this happening, I finally feel like asking the question.

I've had this name for a long time, and I've noticed that whenever someone mispells (*sp/irony), they leave out the R. Why specifically the R?

Many, many different people have mispelled the name but in the SAME WAY. Meaning there is some consistent kind of error you get when you read my name... but I'm no linguist so I won't really sit here and come up with theories. I should probably change the lowercase r to a capital R, or put a dash or underscore.

;) I still luv you and luv your avatar;)

Because its hard to say "akridrot" and easier to say "akridot." Its even hard to READ it with the R in here. It hurts my head.

This thread officially "has it all".

Big Hugs all around, folks.

oh, and as for the name... my guess is that people perceive akridot (acrid-dot) as a more likely alias than akridrot (acrid rot).

edit: dot meaning acid, ala microdot.

Out of curiousity, how did you think "akridrot" was pronounced? "UHkridrot" or "Ack-rid-rot"/"Acrid-rot"?

How do you prounounce "Akridot"? "Ack-ridot" "Uhkrid-ot"?

Edit: Yeah Psy-T, but I don't know why. Your pronunciation thingies are better than mine, btw. :D
