im with tax. i went several years without putting in a return at all. shhhh, dont tell the ATO.

anywayz, since i bought some property this year i thought id better get it all handled by a professional. luckily i did, coz either id owe heaps or get done for fraud for ing up calculations.

since work ed things up and didnt take any HECS out for part of the year, i owed like $500 after all was said and done. wasnt happy.

so, out of interest i asked about DJing etc and what (if anything) i could claim.

long story short, i now have a $1400 return. thats a $1900 turn around for the arithmetically challenged

thank for that.

hang on, how do you claim tax return on DJing? and how did you get so much back?...

it depends on a number of things. mainly, my extra salary which has allowed me to claim expenses against my primary income. instead of the $120 i earned thru DJing last financial year.

dont ask me, ask an accountant. all i do know is that i cant make the same claim for another 3 years or something.

oh yeah. i got so much back coz the DJing expenses put me underneath the HECS payback limit, which means what i did pay in HECS is refunded :)

I guess the ATO is managing the *national* tax system, and they simplified the system so everywhere it was (pretty much) the same. So logically it should work everywhere imo.
