| The problem is they start by taking the terrace due to noise. Then they move the closing times to earlier and earlier for another BS reason, and then before you know it they go after the whole downtown entertainment district altogether until it's gone. And no matter what you say, downtown is 10000000000000 times better then the beach. |

I agree 1000000% ... But this isnt new news... This has been goin on for a LOOOOONG time believe it or not .. So if Saleen is claiming this, he has'nt impressed me .. Its news thats been coming for a good while.. A great thing like that couldnt go forever.. Miami officials and law makers are all about money .. So if thats going to interfere with the billions of dollars that the condos are going to bring downtown .. Forget it dude . After hrs has got to go unfortunately . I dont go to space much anymore cause they dont play what i wanna hear anymore.. And when they do i go .. Here and there... And even when that happens it doesnt go as id like it to go .. How ? Like a Saturday at Space. So i really would care less.. What i "DO" know .. Is that if after hrs goes , so does Space.. Space is Space because of the after hrs. Its sad .. But it was forseen.. Miami polititians are all suckers. Thats all i have to say :) |

Man, its hard to realize and fall into reality that this is all happening. I always tought of the clubs evolving and making that district way better and more competitive.. where we would see bunch of clubs rise and fall. They were one biiig chunk of entertainment to one of the best party's in the world during Conference with one of the sickest, more varied line-ups. Now we are seen all this coming to a downfall. Its sad.. it really is.
When we talk terms of electronic music.. once rave parties were killed, Clubs cashed into bringing the DJ's.
Now this is one killer move to DJ culture, electronic music culture, and clubber's culture all together. Lets hope for the best! |

To be honest some of those people on the Space terrace need to already.
Koky you are right, once the condos started going up it was easy to see that a battle over that area would eventually occur. So yeah Saltine/ Saleen/Barbarino/Barbara/club legend/urban legend/or whatever he calls himself this week is far from psychic or anything. And money is at the center of just about anything our local government does or doesn't do. (see my prior post on that).
While Space is not my every week destination either like it used to be back in 2000/2001, it is not just about Space. If people do not let their voices be heard, the government may well start with one area and issue and continue onward to make sure that this city's nightlife completely disappears and Miami becomes as boring as Nebraska. Young people make up a majority in this country, and probably this city as well. So we could vote these old farts right out of office and send them to retirement in one of those condos next to Space/downtown, vote LP into office as the new mayor, and blast the music so loud they cannot sleep in their condos. :haha: :haha:
On a serious note, luckily the fight over the 24 hour district is far from over, and nothing has been decided. Maybe it will not be as bad as everyone is predicting. |

| i heard from a friend that all those people who bought those condos signed a disclosure agreement. basically the disclosure stated that they were aware that they were buying into the entertainment district, which includes AA arena, clubs, etc. dont know if this will hold up. |

No doubt the builders knew about the district when they were building the condos and purchasers knew when they bought units. You cannot miss it because otherwise that area would have been tumbleweeds. The condos and unit owners are not in any position to complain. Are they going to ask to close down the expressway because the cars, motorcycles, and trucks driving on the expressway are too loud??? What about the arena and bicentennial park, should they close so the condo owners can have 100% peace and quiet on their thrones?
The condo builders and owners complaining is the equivalent of someone buying land right next to the airport and then trying to get the airport shut down because the planes make too much noise. Ridiculous. And isn't it interesting how they waited until after the Metropolis and other shootings to turn up the heat and raise 'noise' laws to try and shut down the 24-hr district. Unfortunately clubs and entertainment districts do not make sympathetic figures and are easy targets for these types of political witchhunts. I hope LP, Opium group and company can all work together to quash this, because if the 24-hr district goes that will not be the last thing they target. |
