Wow i want the drugs you were on ^^^^. The crowd was wretched until about 4:30. I will admit the music was definately on point for the majority of the night excluding holdens set. But for the small bit where i saw them tagging holden was destroying it. But again if thats the type of crowd that was at twilo i dont think id have liked twilo. In the late/mid 90's i was at raves in fields and strip malls and that sort of thing. I didnt do much clubbing until i was 21 in 2003 |
if you read closely, i mention why it did not remind me of twilo. one of which was the crowd.
secondly, to say whether or not you would've liked twilo is as foolish a game as to saying whether you like or dislike a track you've never heard. |

I wonder how people can like the minimal stuff Holden plays. Is it meaningful?
Holden & Thompson - Nothing (93 Returning Mix) <-- Is the only track I'll ever hear by Holden. And I'm not even sure if that's his Mix.
I only saw him once at spirit a while back. I slept sitting down, and the security guy told me I had to stay awake, or leave the upper level. :tongue3 |

| based on what holden played on friday night it seems to me that he plays dark, moody tracks with lots of synths - for me he plays darker trance/proggy stuff without the melodies normally found in trance |

| I saw Holden @ Cielo early this year same time Tiesto was doing Crobar, and I wasn't very very excited with Holden's set; it didn't have any energy to it. I was thinking to myself that I would of had a better time @ Crobar, even though it was a can of sardines in there, but it was my boys birthday and he picked a night @ Cielo with Holden instead of Tiesto, so thank god there was 2 Gallons of Grey Goose to help me through the night. LOL :clown: |

| Holden's music is way too heady for most dancefloors. He isn't able to put together a good set imo. He really just should stick to producing. At the Marlin Hotel during the wmc he completely cleared a dancefloor that Dj Three and Little Mike had packed before him because his set was downright boring and went nowhere. Burridge plays bouncey minimal/electro/techhouse that gets people going. He's definitely gone the more minimal route himself as opposed to playing more funky tech when he was more frequently playing with Craig Richards as part of Tyrant. Either way, he plays cool tracks and I still find it puzzling as to why Holden was booked with him. Oh well.....I can't wait to get down to one of his night's down in NYC. |

I agree with Holden being a misfit on this specific date. I like Burridge, but im a die-hard border commie, therefore my opinion will be biased. I saw some videos from friday night, during the moment where Holden plays Kalkbrenner's "gebruenn gebruenn" and the crowd goes wild.
I believe his "balance 005" days are long gone, but i appeal to his new sound; It's refreshing and forward thinking. I still enjoy "Nothing", but it doesn't come as close to "1010101" . It just shows how as a producer, you can be as diverse as you can, he exemplifies the role of a musician and not a "punter's dj". |

| Nice reviews folks! Looks like I'll be heading up there at the end of this month (Oct 28th) to catch Lee. Any chance of a venue announcement for that party yet? And the opener(s)? |

Dude that was a great review. I enjoyed the part where you talked about Twilo, and how nobody has heard of it. I haven't even been to New York but I know Twilo, and just how legendary it was. I guess it's a sign of the times though. I always felt like a n00b in the scene until about a year ago, when I noticed how so many people are like me 5-6 years ago. Still though...boggles my mind how someone in New York hasn't heard of Twilo.
As for Burridge; he's playing here in Toronto on Saturday at a small intimate club, so I'm REALLY psyched for it. He's been my number 1 or 2 guy ever since I got into house and this is the first time I'm going to see him in a club that suits him, as a headliner too. After your review, I'm even more hyped for it.
