Review: Antoine Clamaran @ TIL

i walked in around 1:30 and i hated what he was playing. Put your hands up and some played out electro, i honestly thought i was going to hear some nice tribaliciousness (?) but never happened up untill about 2:30. He started throwing some dirty tracks and some nice tribal. The thing i really liked about him is his skill behind the decks. Always smooth transitions and some amazing effects that he was adding to most tracks. About 3:30 ADDY came on and of course destroyed the place, i couldn't stay for long but from what i've heard it was sick
anyways i give it a 7/10, good times. Nice to see some TA's, you know who you are ;) |

I thought it was a fun night...
joe and fab started off the night very nicely...was great to see them play again after a while since ive been in hibernation mode at work... ne ways.. clamaran came on at around 1.. I believe (wasnt paying attention to my watch)... and he just started off his set with some great choonage... and that smelektro detroit song wasnt one of them but oh well... i guess he just had to throw that one in there...lol... he threw in a bunch of old school traxxs.. that just made his set phenomenal...
I waited soo long to see him spin.. and I thought he was great & more... hands down... I just couldnt stop dancing.. Antoines' skilled talent on those decks was simply amazing...seriously phenomenal moves on the mixing and was a crowd pleaser.... he did finish earlier than he was supposed to which was a little ty.. but its cool the guy was tired... considering he only played a 2.5 hour set he fullfilled my expectations 110%...and delivered totally...
when addy came on it was just like icing on the cake... like geroin said "he destroyed the place"... he was tearing the roof off... I left at around 4:30..was sooo tired.. couldnt keep my eyes open.. and drove cribby home (hope your feeling better for 2nite cribbs)...
was nice to see some tas out.. geroin, cribby, sean cassidy, youreadyb, ann, andrea, cuzo, and chinamon (cant wait to see your pics jay-- looked like you were having fun).. cant recal who else from ta was there.. but I dont think ne one else was...
A lot of ppl were missing.. :(.. is every1 waiting for us 11 2nite? ..lol..thats what it seemed like.. considering I am at work and only slept 3 hours im doing ok... will show up to us 11 but just for a little bit...need sleep... |

i was having such a great time last night. manzone&strong played a wicked opening set as always. antoine clamaran has met all my expectations. he is fan-ing-tastic. my only complaint about his set was when he played Put Your Hands Up For Detroit and whatever the song was right after it. antoine played his remix if sugarhill gang - rappers delight and that was probably the highlight of the night for me. addy ripped it hard to close the night. the music was phenomenal from start to finish.
see you guys at ultra spin 11 tonight. pics up soon. |

Ok I think I'm capable enough of writing a review but it won't be lengthy :/ :
Got there at 11ish...The amount of patrons were never at high amounts...meaning a healthy person always had his/her space and not feel overwhelmed. The crowd was decent; thousands of vaginos! :eek: lol. Didn't encounter any rudeness so I was happy. Couldn't really enjoy my night because after 1:30 - 3 I couldn't find a spot that I was confortable with. I thought I had recovered enough from my illness to deal with it...but not the case. I did manage to have a blast at some moments throughout the night, but for the most part, I found myself either sitting down to cool off and rest or just stand outside in the patio...which was a stupid move since without realizing, I got in a worse condition. But that's enough about Cribby's rambling on the subject. The most fun I had, was dancing with my jacket on the patio and having random danceoffs...I had taken an advil; that thing worked wonders! :eek: Left at 4:30ish and warmed up at home.
Musically, like I said, my feelings were mixed. Manzone & Strong played a good opener; nothing spectacular but they set it up perfectly for Sr. Clamaran. Antoine Clamaran came on about 1:30 and played tribalicious tracks, all which were sooooooooo good. I tried as best as I could to shake the ass, and I did a pretty darned good job for someone who felt like he was dying heh. He disappointed me at around 1:50...when he dropped Put Your Hands Up For Detroit...mashed up with The Drill - The Drill...two of the most annoying songs EVER. kinda killed it for me, but at 2:20 he switched it up to some really nasty tech inspired electro. VERY good tuneage; can't ID any. He played the one tune I was hoping to hear...and my zombified face lit up like I was reborn haha...the track was Antoine Clamaran - Take Off! :D Good tune and it was so expected. His mixing skills were crisp; no complaints from me. What really made me upset, was that he only played for 2 hours! WTF? I can understand if this were a Guvernment party with 5 headlining deejays, but this guy WAS the headliner for the night. What gives? 2 hours is an insult! I've become such a music snob but I'm being honest here...Addy closing TIL was the biggest load of crap ever. I used to be a big fan of his...but his mixing is so sloppy that I don't even want to dance. I respect him for trying to be original, but mixing in 4 different songs at a time, songs which do NOT blend well together imo, does not work well. It sounds ridiculous, and I do not enjoy it. Please let the song finish too... He's got a great selection of tracks, he just doesn't program them right. At one point I got up and started going nuts to Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (D Ramirez) remix...which is my favourite summer tune, but he cropped the tune, mixed it in with JT's Sexyback...and the opening soundsamples of Copyright - He Is...You guys call this pleasing to the ear? . Same thing with Criss Source - Hugs & Kisses....I left before I had the chance to hear a FULL song being played...if that even happened. :rolleyes:
I would have had a significantly better time if I had the ability to dance more, but overall it was an ok night. One of the only reasons why I was coming out didn't even make it...and I could of stayed home. Bah! And no, I am not grumpy :) It was a pleasure to see a few people out; less is more :D. Gera, I didn't see you at all least night. :eek:
I said I wouldn't write anything lengthy...oops lol. If my review sounds very critical it's just my own opinion, so don't take it to heart. |
