I recently spoke to one of the owners who lives abroad and I came up with an idea that he loved as to how to get the international DJs back to Avalon NY. It might already be too late and I have to admit, I haven't been in the venue in over 8 months. It was an idea I proposed several times during my time there that management didn't want to try. Just an idea.....

Why not just pay the outstanding tax lien, (if that is the reason it closed)? [Whoever is responsible for the IRS lien)

Do you really think it's too late .. ?

btw your opening sets were the only things that made the few times I went to Avalon bearable :) good luck.

To be honest, youll have a hard time getting those DJ's away from Pacha and Crobar. Plus, the club has a reputation with DJs, as to not being very crowd friendly - meaning, it can become a sardine can really quick.

I passed by there a few days ago and saw signs posted that say that the place has been seized

its open, it opened a few days after it was shut down.... Eddie, sorry to say but its hopeless to bring big name DJs back to Avalon.... i myself had a heavy meeting with the management there 2 weeks ago, and basically what i proposed was to bring a top 20 DJ Mag DJ (whos been to Avalon many many many times, im not going to say who, because we have planned this event elsewhere now) with my own money.... pay the club CASH DOWN for a 50/50 deal for a Saturday night, not to mention a huge network of promoters ive been putting together, plus id cover promotion costs, flyers, etc....

all they said was "we love your idea, but we're currently not having electronic music on Saturdays anymore (i was there on a Friday and it was hip hop, so i guess that means its an ALL-HIPHIP-CLUB... wat they did do was forward us to another great venue (where we are currently putting our monthly parties together.... more info TBA!!!!).... but yeah, the DJ i proposed to BRING BACK there, if they didnt go for that idea (with all the money WE'D be putting into it), then they wont go for any idea.... they kindly said they loved how much effort we put into the planning, and that if they change their status back to an EDM club, we would be the first people they contacted to run a monthly event.... i was there and omfg, the sound sounded GREAT!!!! i coudltn believe how crisp the sound was sounding, they really redid the speakers nicely..... we'll see.... hey Eddie, im gunna send u a PM tomorrow, so look out for that

1. Why would managment turn the venue into a hip-hop club ...and

2. as of today, is the site open for business? Or has it been seized by the State, can you confirm?

Thanks....Hearing things like that make it all worthwhile....I was never really a "people's DJ" per se so commments like that really make a brother smile.

Over the years I've forged some strong relationships with international DJs, many of which had stated to me how much they loved Avalon. Like I mentioned earlier, it might be too late, but I had a few ideas as to how to get the club going again. There's still conflicting stories as to whether it's even open. I heard last night that they were shut down.

I honestly think its too late, especially if the club is still under the same management it has been under. With Crobar and Pacha thriving, I just don't think people would care to give Avalon yet another chance.

we did two nights there this summer, the first with Paolo Mojo and Yousef, and the second with Max Graham. While both nights were very well attended, there was still a lot of bull to deal with...things like not getting paid, etc...
