The Problem with the scene in Toronto is that there are too many people heavily supporting local djs! ... as long as there are ppl posting on the boards that Sydney Blu or Jelo are best djs in the world. |
Isn't that you though?
Edit: I mean, aren't you part of the problem that you yourself are describing? |

To all who had negative things to say about Addy:
It's very stupid how u like to trash him and most of the other local djs when you probably go out to places(and there aren't many) where they are spinning and you probably have been there more than a few times and have enjoyed your night out. I agree with one of the comments earlier where pple post when they don't even understand how it all works...Whatever all I know is that we have a lot of pple here who post only b/c they have nothing else to do...N/Eway I support Addy all the way and all the other local djs...I have to say that they have never let me down!
p.s. After listening to a lot of other international djs' sets I remember saying to Manzone: " all these international djs, it's all about u guys"...............:p |

I think, for the most part, the handful of DJ's that make up the Toronto club circuit are happy just playing the local scene. Don't get me wrong, more than half of them couldn't mix a salad let alone put a clean set together, but for what they are doing, they do their job well. They're not out to bang out some over the top production, introduce new music and sounds, or even break out internationally. They play the tracks that people want to hear and usually to a crowd that isn't that involved or interested in the scene, but just want to party and get wasted. I think alot of us are assuming that the majority of people are going out to hear fresh music and really good DJ'ing skills, because honestly I'd say it's only about 25% that are. With the likes of Greg, Sean, Luke, Brad and even Nathan as of late...these are the guys that, in my opinion, are the only ones with true passion for music and the scene in Toronto...it's extremely rare to hear any of them play a duplicate set (give or take a few tracks) from the last time you heard them. |
I could not have said it any better...except I think Deko-Ze is head and shoulders (and torso even!) above the others in the circuit of DJs he plays with at Guv/CZ/TIL.
I would also add that it's sad that our city's most popular DJs are happy with going out and playing the same set every weekend and not advancing things musically for their audience. I appreciate that not all of their regular supporters really care whether they do or not - it's just disappointing for the rest of us. |

| ^^^I agree with you guys...very well said...It is true that they play tracks that pple want to hear but can u blame them? If you have been out in TO and seen the crowd you would understand...For example...Manzone and Strong at This is London or Sky BAr...always very similar sets and always the same crowd...(I do enjoy coming out to both of these places but I don't do it often because it does get boring at times...Especially the crowd that TiL attracts...)Then I have heard Manzone, Nathan and Carlo at a couple different underground clubs and let me tell you that they rocked my world. I danced for 7 hours with very short breaks for a cigarette completely sober). All I'm trying to say is that we should not make them look bad on here...afterall they are OUR local djs...They have very good potentials to be much bigger, but it's totally up to them to decide how comfortable they at their standings currently...p.s. M&S have been offered a gig in Cancun, Mexico... congrats to them they deserve the best... |

You just felt like kissing his ass, good for you!
and a big LOL @ " all these international djs" -
And it's funny how you go on defending Addy while having a beautiful username such as *TiEsTo*SuX*. I think Addy is just a good friend of yours and there's nothing too wrong with you being frustrated because your friend got bashed on music forums by a few people.. |
