You didn't answer my question. I don't think i've ever met a house dj, in my entire career, that "envies" a trance dj. Ever. |

Just think
why don't you see Thread against House everyday.
It's a fact that envy exists, you are blind if you can't see that.
just to make note, Sasha is one of my favourite DJ's, and I don't care how much some House DJ's or from other genre keep figthing against Trance.
I will still love to listen the good House DJ's, and I don't pretend to start a fight against House. |

What is the most difficult part about being a DJ?
Seeing different scenes hating each other [eg. house vs trance etc.] and watching people spread negativity towards others rather than keeping an open mind and appreciating that there are so many different musical paths available. I have always loved such a broad range of music that I never could see the light in that. Occasionally dealing with promoters who are disorganized and unprepared also can be a real let down because it makes it hard for you to do your job properly and enjoy it like you should. When everything is on track and organized as expected it makes it much easier to play your best. |
This guy play many genres of EDM. |

I don't see threads against trance everyday. Infact, that's why I come in the MD so little. Everyone is talking about something related to trance, which is something I have no knowledge of. Every now and then I see people that like trance, asking if trance was better then than it is now. But I don't normally see threads that say "Trance sucks...here's why". So again, I don't see any envy. Sorry. |

The one thing I never really understood about trance dj's is the fact that most of them, especially the bigger names, play the same songs in every set for extended periods of time. Especially their own tracks they produced, they will play for even years. I mean, usually, when I download a dj set from a trance dj I won't download another for atleast a few months after since inbetween I can pretty much expect a lot of the same songs to be played. And this really blows my mind because as a dj at home, I am constantly looking for new songs to play and I find them! These guys, the big jocks, are millionares having any song in the world at their disposal and yet they continue to play the same tracks!
House dj's, on the other hand, I have found, constantly change up the tracks. Even when they have produced their own, they usually don't whore it for months and months or even years. Now, I don't want to start a debate, which is probably asking too much, but what the real reason could be. Maybe even if a bigger name see's this thread and would like to chime in that would be appreciated.
I think I especially don't like to see PvD much these days for the reasons stated above. His older tracks aren't bad, I could do without them, but he still plays them in every set. And then of course you have him, for example, play the song twice. His music collection must be in the hundreds of thousands and yet you hear the same song every time.
Discuss. :) |
You realise this....NOW

Imagine if Sasha played Xpander in every set since 1999. What would we think? |

Well I visit these forums very often, and I see tons of Threads Against Trance.
Opinions like
House is Better Than Trance
Trance is Better Than House
Techno is Better Than Trance
it really doesn't help the EDM Scene in general. |

Well, I owe a lot of it to the fact that I took up dj'ing myself. This is not a bad thing but has definitely broadened the possibilities of music that I listen to. So for me, who pretty much every day is looking to keep the mix fresh with new tunes goes to see a dj like Armin in June and then again in Sept, I don't expect him to play the same songs really. And this is an example because he honestly didn't play a lot of the same things but there were some tunes there that I had already heard. My point on that is this, he is one of the biggest name djs out there with every song available to him that he can possibly want. So why play the same track even twice 3 months later? I just can't see myself doing that. Sure, I get on this kick where I like a certain track but even after a little while it loses its appeal that it first had to me. I dont get how these guys can get so excited over the same track every time they play out. But then again, I guess if I ever get to play in front of thousands every week it may change my opinion.
This isnt Trance vs House really, just an observation I have made over a short period of time. I could be wrong. :) |

I visit this forum every day, several times a day and I don't think i've seen ONE thread that's sole purpose is to say that house is better than trance. Sure 90% of them end up that way, but that's not how they were intended :p |

| I think there are just more quality house tunes these days than trance. The opposite was true three or four years ago, so who knows, it could swing trance's way once again. But yeah, I have noticed that DJ's like Digweed, Cattaneo, Howells, Fair, Moshic, et. al. switch up tracklists more frequently than the likes of Above and Beyond, G & D, Armin, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, et. al. |

Dude, you have seen the light. Danny Howells is your new favorite DJ. Always fresh.
I get bored of tracks after playing them in my bedroom twice. I dont think the tracks suck, I just want fresh music, I wanna keep it rotating, keep it eclectic and varied. I wanna take people different places, places they havn't been, so that almost no two of my sets are ever very similar... Theres SO much of it out there, that your collection can keep going on forever...why stop at the latest new releases in the one or two genres you stick to?
I like alot of trance but I just cant keep hearing the same over and over, I even get annoyed when Sasha whores a track too much... |
