its genetics :( | Ok, in a lot of cases, it is genetics and some people are just going to be slightly obese. But more often than not, fat people consume huge potions of food that they really shouldn't eat. That's not genetics. When fat people go eat at McD's, that's not genetics. Also, when it is genetics, I don't think some of the really fat people are destined by those genes to get as fat as they are. I think there's a fine line between genetic obesity and really big obesity.
I was reading this artical the other day about how drug cmpanies are trying to lobby that being fat is a disease and that their pills can be a cure. Whatever happened to just eating right. It's not like eating healthy is disgusting, it can taste really good if you cook it all right, but most people can't or don't want to. |

it actually is genetics. there are portions of your brain that control when you 'feel' hungry and when you 'feel' full, guess who has a hand in how those work....genetics. Genetics also has a role in cravings for fatty type foods, which is why they crave mcdonalds and unhealthy type foods.
so while genetics does not say, 'hey, eat mcdonalds and play WOW til you weigh 893 pounds', it does determine the underlying cravings, the environment determines how these cravings are manifest. i know its easy for me to say dont eat mcdonalds and high fat foods, and eat less, and get motivated to do more exercise since I dont have those cravings/'problems', but i know its a whole other world inside their size 10 extra wide shoes.

boomer this is false. watch Super Size Me and you will learn why. its a chemical change caused by eating these foods. remove these foods from your diet completely and you no longer crave them. i almost puke from eating fast food now. i havent eaten it in over a year and i never crave it. im not fat as you know but i do have a gut and my weight has stabilized. fast food causes a lot of things that you wouldnt expect. |

And all the cxr's (chest xrays) I do on smokers that complain of Shortness of breath. SOB? NO FCKN WAY..........you sob
And not only that.... people that come to the hospital simply for attention. I pull their file and they've had a thousand xrays and nothing has ever been wrong.
Just had to vent....and yes I obviously treat each patient with respect....I just wait to roll my eyes until I get behind the booth to take an exposure.
 :stongue: |
fat people are in denial that they can actually do something about it. they refuse to see the fact that they are their own enemy in this case. i dont consider it a disease cause its not directly life threatening nor is it caused by something outside of your control. |

I didn't even crave it when I immediatly stopped (I don't even remember why). Plus the food is pretty disgusting. |

I hate that movie mostly because from what I hear (havent seen it nor do I plan on it) he over eats it more than anyone would. I could also do a movie called water me where I gourge myself full of water and show how bad it is. I dont think I could shoot down that eatting mcds causes chemical changes, but I could also add that pretty much every food does.
and lol @ your gut...hehe.
I think I just have a soft spot for larger people and I have head stories of trying to get morbidly obese people down in weight...its fakin almost impossible. my old psych prof did this in the 70s and he was soo cruel. so to me, its not as simple as stop eatting crap like mcds.
speaking of, time for lunch. |
