Does it bother you? I know you'd prefer NOT to have it - but is it something you live with easily?

High blood pressure? I didn't know that. I ask because I have had mild tinitus for several years, despite very careful listening habits. I know tinitus is permanent, but if it's being caused by high blood pressure, would the tinitus cease if your blood pressure evens out?

I'm quite healthy, but I've had a bit of high blood pressure now and then due to stress.

Well that's what I've heard anyway.

when I went to the doctor yesterday the first thing she did was take my blood pressure.

It was fine though.

I get ringing in my ears too. Usally goes away in the middle of the week, then starts again during the weekends.

i've got it, doesn't really bother me unless I think about it. I think you just learn to live with it tbh, one of the cons of being a dj/listening to loud music.

:)

I'm praying it goes away. I think it will.

If it doesn't I'll have to learn to live with it.

Bloody hell man - it's all gone Pete Tong...........

WAITER!!!!!

Anyone ever had their ears cleaned and noticed it reduced problems like Tinitus?

I was gonna get mine done, or look for a cleaning kit in the drugstore, apparently it includes a big syringe.

I sometimes have tinitus or a similar ringing problem, often it does not seem to be related to loud sounds, it just happens at random, starting in the morning and lasting for hours or even days.

mate of mine has got tinitus, says its v v frustrating and a real pain, told me that when he went to the docs to find out what the prob was, the doc pulled out a huge piece of wax the size of a 6inch nail!!

It's not very loud yet though and I've had it for as long as I can remember so I don't even notice it anymore.

I guess I worded it wrong.. I can hear it 24/7, IF I am in silence... haha, which is why I usually have music playing all the time and some low volume just so I can't hear the ringing... I've started wearing earplugs at work (heavy equipment) just to help preserve what I have left..

Ya know... this has been bothering me for a long while too.
You really don't give a crap until it starts happening to you. I'm constantly exposed to loud music: while DJing, while clubbing, at home, on weekends, in the car. Trance music just sounds good LOUD. And, well... it takes a toll on you after all the years.

If you're considering doing this for long periods of time, I'd definitely look into getting custom made earplugs. They take a molding of your ear, and make earplugs for you that fit your ears perfectly. They're available in different kinds, which offer different levels of attenuation. These earplugs can be worn WHILE performing, as they cut out the most damaging frequencies which are not significant to your DJing.

A company also makes earbud-style earphones that also act as earplugs. Google that also!

Just do a search on google and you'll be able to find them. They are pretty expensive, but if you're going to be a DJ or working in music, well, your ears are you more valuable assets.

I've been putting these off for a while, but this post is a reminder for me to get my ass in gear!

Well, it's one week on.

I still have the ringing. It's changed a lot during that time, it gets worse, it gets better. It seems to be worse just after I wake up. It's accompanied by headaches and dizzyness. I wouldn't be suprised if I had a brain tumour.

Suddenly I'm starting to think.... I hope it's ONLY tinitus.....
