Martin Roth is an insult to trance and by far one of the worst producers out there right now. I'm interested to see if he can spin though... |
hrm.. i found his productions to be quite energetic and always thought his melodies sound nice as well. what exactly don't you like about his productions? i'm interested to hear. |

| yeah same here.... hes actually a huge refreshing producer in the scene, in terms of not making the same fluff everyone else is making... he has everything from hard dark trance to electro trance to funk-driven basslined trance, he and svd are two of my favorite trance-tech-electro crossovers atm |

d/l a bunch of Martin Roth tracks, listen to them back to back or do a ghetto mix and you'll see that he uses the EXACT same instruments in EVERY song he has produced... same clap, kick, synth bass, synths, etc...
maybe each song by itself is an ok/good production, but overall all his productions are like the old style Clipse/Neptunes/NERD productions... take the same instruments and randomize a new pattern.
just doesn't cut it for me |

perry o'neil
randy boyer
markus schulz (although he is up for debate)
above & beyond
matthew dekay
16 bit lolitas
gabriel & dresden
i kno you will probably find some way to argue about this but it will be to no avail i tell you. martin roth is a 'default' DJ, using all the default clips and samples on whatever keyboard or program he uses. i realize that a lot of other artists do it, but they do a much better job of hiding it or varying it a little bit. another artist i have a gripe with is Junkie XL. do you need a guitar in EVERY track? |

Good list, not here to argue but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I'm a huge fan of dark/prog trance myself and Roth's sound would be ideal for a club environment imho. To each his own. |

perry o'neil and markus schulz... :nervous:
as for you saying martin roth uses default settings (i think you mean presets), no biggie cuz everyone finds their own sound. me being a producer as well, if i create a really nice sound, then yes, i will save it to my computer because it takes a long time to make something good. for example, i hear tons of people talk trash about david west and andy moor re-using the same sounds, well.. thats really just their own style and niche they made for themselves. anyways, you've listed markus and above & beyond who are most definitely in that group of using and re-using sounds (repeatedly throughout their productions careers)... so i don't know where you're going with this...
*edit*
i guess the main thing is, the only reason why i'm refuting your statement is because you didn't bring a valid arguement to the table. actually with some of the artists you listed, its quite contradictory. |
