You should narrow the thread title. Believe it or not there is history outside of US history.

well i do all the questions myself.i got 7 pages worth of answers for my last set. this time im typing them out on the computer. checking what i got so far would be great

1. What was the balancing act that “nationalists” who advocated for a Constitution had to play in the 1780’s?
page 163
-Most people wanted to increase the power of Congress
*Afraid to shift balance too far lest they destroy the sovereignty of the states and rights of individuals
-Required unanimous consent of the states for amendments
*First steps towards solution was March 1785
-Reps of Virginia and Maryland met in George Ws. home
-Alexander Hamilton
*Believed drastic centralization would save the nation.
*First nationalist?
*Proposed convention to meet at Phili to deal with constitutional reform
*Fix defects in the Articles of Confederation.
*1787 Convention is held in Phili, George Washington is elected president
-Four months later the Constitution is drafted

2. What similarities did the men at the Constitutional Convention share regarding governmental ideas? What differences existed that divided them?
Pages 163-169
*Similarities
-Delegates posses a rare combination of talents
-Considerable experience in politics
-Skilled in logic and debate
-Boldy optomistic about their country
-Nearly all of one mind on basic questions
*there should be a federal system
-independent state govs and national gov with limited powers to handle common interest matters
*agreed ordinary citizens should share in the process of selecting those who were to make and execute laws
*No group should have unrestricted authority
*Ordinary people should have say in goverment in order to protect themselves
*Power must be divided
-Segments balanced against the other
-Agrred to only propose and recommend thse changes
-Right to levy taxes and regulate interstae and foreign commerce was assigned to central gov
-Agrred power to raise and maintain an army and navy and to summon militia
-States were deprived of their rights to issue money, to make treaties, and to tax either imports or exports without permission of congress
-believed that the national gov should have separate executive and judicial branches as well as a legislature
*Questions that divided

i know some of the questions arent hard like the ones that i could just wikipedia like qs 4 6 and 8 but help on any of the others would be amazing

*edit* sorry those answers totally lost their format

haha. don't forget they all had two legs and walked upright -- another key similarity.

your list of similarities is dog. on what planet were they all of one mind on "basic questions"? half of the ideas you listed under similarities should fall under differences.

to find relevant similarities ask yourself what did they all agree needed fixing. what were the weaknesses of the articles of confederation (including the most glaring single one)?

what were the fundamental differences? here's a hint: the inability to solve these differences manifested itself in 1832, 1854 and 1861.

lol, homework. :stongue: :stongue:

heres more for 2nd q

the reason they all got together was to fix the stupid unanimous consent of the states to pass amendment.

ur right the first notes for similarities were dog.

*Questions that divided
-Who shall control the national gov?
*proved more difficult answer
*Larger states pussed for representation in national legislature based on population
-led by virginia
-Virginia plan drafted by james madison
*smaller states states wished to maintain existing system of equal rep.
-lead by Newjersy plan drafted by William Paterson
*Problem that existed
-(smaller states)equal state rep would be been undemocratic
-(larger states) proportional system would have effectively destroyed the influence of all the states as states
*debate was long
*July 17 delegates decide on Great Compromise
-New legislature with Lower and upper branches
-Lower house - House of Representatives
*Places were to be assigned according to population and filled by popular vote
-Upper House - Senate
*Eeach state was to have two members elected by its legislature
***Debate of Great Comprimise Side note
-Northern/Southern delegates conflicted on each states share of direct federal taxes
-Southerners wanted to exclude slaves from the count
*wanted to include slaves in each districts representation in house of rep

-3/5s Comprimise
*3/5s of all other persons would be counted for both purposes
*Checks and Balances put into place

and? it's still history
wizniz
your answers are too much BS and not enough simple fact.

1. What was the balancing act that “nationalists” who advocated for a Constitution had to play in the 1780’s?

articles of confederation... to remove or not?
and if they decided to remove the articles, would they keep these as a section in the final product? (ended up articles were added to final constitution as bill of rights)

2. What similarities did the men at the Constitutional Convention share regarding governmental ideas? What differences existed that divided them?

similarity: they all were working towards a democratic government

difference: some wanted more central government power (federalists), others wanted less (anti-federalists).

3. Go the back of your text book and find the Constitution. Find every place where Native Americans are mentioned, and what is says about them.

:wtf:

4. Who were the anti-federalists and what did they believe? In light of what they believed, is the name “anti-federalist” fair and accurate?

anti-federalists believed in a looser central government with less laws, stronger states, and more power in the people.
anti-federalists isnt a good term because they were all for a federal government... they just chose it because they were against the federalists.
