"live" trance performances....

i was just watching the johan gielen live at trance energy vid. there's the part when twisted gets played and this goofy lookin kid, who i assume is mr. svenson, gets on the keyboard and starts goin nuts. but when they do closeups of the keyboard, you can see the guy's just mashing all the keys in a seemingly random fashion.
same with the push live at trance energy vid. sometimes, they seem to be playing, and other times, they're just mashing all the keys with their palms. and they guy on the digital drum pads doesn't seem to be doing the same thing as the percussion that's being played...
are these really LIVE performances??? |

| lol yeah i sometimes wonder too. i don't know how these synthesizers and keyboards work but from what i see, it just doesn't match up correctly. there are times when everything looks in sync but then there are also times when everything looks ed up. are they using some loops or something? can someone who knows how these equipment work explain to us? |

| well the way i think its done, is not that they are playing the song note for note - more that the synthesizer is altering effects, key and whatnot. im not totally sure how it all works tho...maybe its horse?/ |

I was wondering too.. it's good that you brought it up. I think Svenson just wanted to make it sound like it's him doing the keyboard, but I doubt his palm mashing amde any difference to the actual track; I mean, I think it was just the record on Gielen all the while.

well i seen BT play live and it surely seemed like he was playing the song... pretty amazing stuff since he was playing off of 3 synths. i assume that he would hit a beat on 1 to start the loop than just play the main melody.
i also met this guy at this 1 party he was doing live pa of his own song. no1 big but he said its very hard playing live pa you never want to mess up you just mostly play the main melody. so yea im still puzzled but i rather believe that they're playing live instead of trying to be james bond and find out.. haa |
