Why is it not ok to pick on some people? For example, the "nice" people, or the "innocent" people if you will.
Take that drama that happened with Marie. I hate to use this as an example...but I made a crack once after it happened, and everybody jumped all over me like I was some demon whore. WTF?
Why is it ok to pick on people who are annoying? Why should anybody be safe from abuse, just because they're "nice"? Like picking on a nice person makes you all the more evil.
Yeah I realize the obvious answer is that they don't deserve it, but does ANYBODY deserve it?? Picking on someone is picking on someone, plain and simple...no matter what they've done or how nice/mean they are.
There should be no special priviledges here! |

While in theory that is correct, those who don't get picked on have often earned that right & the respect. Plus every single form of civilisation has picked on each other. Religious fantics, cavemen & dinosaurs, the french & the french canadians, north & south korea, Nou & most of the world, it just happens, often for a good enough reason. c'est la vie i guess |

there was almost a code of respect back when I joined, where many people would take time to get to know people, almost as a courtesy, and of course we had a bunch of hosers back then too, but over time those who got on, esp with an active IRC channel for ta would be able to lynch threads with abuse so quickly, just 1 pasted link & upto 20 people would be onto whoever posted something silly. I don't think there's ever been total peace, bar maybe the early early days |
