Yes, the media is touting that the law is going to target women, but realistically, it will have to apply to both, since applying such a law to one gender will not survive a charter challenge in court.

irrelevant.

I don't doubt that some clubs will try to get away with being selective, perhaps for the 'weapon' reason already mentioned...but what matters it the liquor license itself.

All it takes is for the LLBO to say it's all or nothing...i.e. the license applies to ALL washrooms or no license.

solution, if the bottle danger is *that* serious in certain clubs...switch to cans or require patrons to put their beer into a cup before entering a washroom.

this really isn't that big of a deal...why people can't have their friend hold/watch their f'n drink for 5-10 minutes is beyond me. If you're friend takes too long...free drink for you :D

No. Neither does Vegas. Those 2 cities are major tourist attractions so they need to be more lax on their public drinking laws than other cities. Moscow doesn't count either. That city has no laws.

As for New york, can you really walk down the street in Downtown NY with a beer in your hand without attracting attention from the cops?

Barcelona, pretty much anywhere in Spain or where my rents are from, Cyprus for that matter.

so which cities in Europe allow public drinking?

again, not true. You can't just walk right through downtown in any city and not get booked. I know you can't do that in Warsaw or Budapest. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same thing in London.
