I don't understand, how people can't manage their own bank account, without hitting overdraft. Either, slow down on your spending, or manage your bank account and credit accordingly. It's not that hard.

Some bank's and/or ATMs can't take account for every transaction you make, until the next business day. It's not the ATM's (nor, the bank's) responsibility to monitor your finances. You have to learn, how to keep track of your finances a little better. I'm not bashing on you, but overdraft penalties are nothing to laugh about, when they'll cost you $30+/ea. transaction - this sets you back, even further. Chances are, you had a debit pending in your account from whenever, and finally went through, after you last checked the balance on the ATM.

The only way you're going to learn your lesson, is to request a bank statement, research it online, or wait 'til the monthly statement comes in the mail. Research all your transactions for the month, and figure out where you went wrong. Then, you'll be like, "Oooooooooooooooh , no wonder..." :haha:

oh yea, i forgot about that overdraft protection thing you can do, dont all banks do this though? only credit unions?

Not sure. Ive been with a credit union for the past 9 years. Only place that has a 3.9% return on savings. Can't beat that

Credit Unions rule

My Credit Union charges me NO FEES WHATSOEVER. I can use any ATM i want and can use my Visa Debit Card pretty much anywhere, but i never have to pay fees.

I purposely chose not to get a credit card or an overdraft, so I can only spend the money that I have in my account.

P.S. I get 5.90% interest on my online savings account :p

i work at the bank,.
Enigmatic XTC
i managed to rack up over about $400 doing that once. Luckily i knew someone who worked for the bank, so they all went away. ;)
