Yeap, nice mix, i burnt the cd and made one of my friends listen to it (the guy doesnt know much about edm), and he says its a good because there are lots of transitions. I agree, mixing is very smooth, best to date, the tempo is quicker.

Track selection was good, like i said before the nathan fake track is my favorite from the compilation and u gotta up that to the ftp.

Any negative comments? Just one thing, i think there was a small contrast between the track Hanzendonk & Pico and one that preceeded and followed. Nothing major, but i found the track wasnt as smooth as the others.

Beatiful work, and its great to see that you could adapt, be spontaneous with ur music, evolve and deliver. You definitly kept true to your sound, Moevalith is written ALLL over that set.

My turn, next weekend we play on the new xone?:D

Thank you all for having spent a little time hearing me out, you should know that it means a great deal to me; and I hope all of you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed mixing it.

All the best to each of you,
moeva.

I see you coming closer to a half-way point between keeping yourself happy and keeping the crowd happy. The mixes are solid and I must admit that technically you are a very talented. The songs flow from one to another almost seemlessly.

Your tracklisting is improving but I still question exactly which style you're leaning towards. You have elements of acid, minimal, tech, prog but one style doesn't prevail as the most distinct. It all seems to be mishmashed. I look forward to seeing your style settle.

You definitely have talent and music is undeniably your life calling. This isn't mainstream stuff but if you're interested in the underground basement scene (Holden, Lee, etc) than you are playing the right music.

I think if you went a little more towards the commercial aspect of dance music you'd be booked around town faster. I'm not saying you have to play Axwell's Madonna remix, but what about Tiefswwtxrz (lol) Madonna remix? As a test, I'd like to see you play as commercial as you possibly could to see what the result would be. I think it'd be interesting to see you spin a different kind of music, even if it's just for one set.

Cheers. Keep it up. You're definitely going places.

I know criticism is tough to take when you're passionate about something but I consider you to be my friend and I hope you take my input as constructive criticism and not as an attack.

Afterall, you could always ignore my comments and call me a stupid actor. :P

This is the first time I hear one of your sets, moevalith, and I'm quite pleased. I really enjoyed the last track! I just finished listening to it at work and it really got me pumped. I definitely need to give it another listen, this time in the car of course. Check your PM inbox please, a cue sheet is needed. :D

I disagree with the first. I think Moe does have a solid style already developed, and those acid, minimal, tech, prog elements within his sets are what his style is all about.

If you'd put me in a room with a 10 dj lineup (Moe being one of them), id definitly know when he gets on.

The style that he plays is definitly not for everyone's liking, and i do agree that if he plays a bit more commercial he will have an easier time to get booked. However, his style is unique to him and u will not hear it unless he is behind the decks. I think he's on the right route, he definitly is a dj that will be remembered faster then a regular dj that plays more commercial (He might be remembered in a good way or a bad way, depending on the venue and crowd).

Marcus, i dont think its a matter of being more commercial, i think its more about tweaking his sound, and being more selecting with his tracks.

If you want to exist in the inner realm of the dance community, where people like richie hawtin, ricardo villallabos and james holden play, then you're on the right track.

If you want to exist in the main stream world then IMO it means adding a touch of familiarity to the music.

Underground tracks are great but a crowd loves hearing at least a few songs they know.

I really respect artists like John Digweed and Sasha (and a countless number of others) because they have found a way to blend that dark underground music that Holden plays with Armin's commercial aspects.

These artists reach out to a larger range of people and in the end of the day isn't it all about sharing your sound with the world?

Preach is a perfect example of this.

As stated in the intro of this thread, I mixed up a few genres, but in my opinion, genres are only good for one thing; marketing. I do have a sonic vision by which I try to stylize, however it'll always evolve, so expect surprises, my style will never settle, at least i hope... The link in all the chaos that happened in Hamlet was Hamlet himself. Hope you see what I'm getting at ;)

Such a movement would benefit me if my number one priority is to get gigs, however, it is far from. The main purpose of these promos is for development, not gig-fetching. Besides, my fun is behind the art of mixing, not for hopes of marketing moevalith on shoes. I dont know the first thing about mxing cheese, forgot what it even tastes like simply because I'm lactose intolerant anywho I dont like the smell of it.

Thanks for listening and the feedback :)

My, my, my .. what a different moevalith we have with us in this promo ha? :D Not to worry tho, because now more than ever perhaps, moeva proves why his afterhour gig is long overdue...before going to the tracks let's just make it clear if itsn't already..the mix is flawless, near perfection (if that's even possible), better is unimaginable..::.

1) Get ed - manyana:: perfect starter, extremely groovy with trippy vocal samples that you can only hear in edm. Perhaps the element I love most of all isn't even the funky acid in the background, but the bubbly grove together with the catchy claps that seem to dissapear as soon as they appear...great way to start it off

2) Ars nova - acid sounds:: and that "I love it, that acid sound-ound-oun-" :eyes: is signature moeva with this next one blending in perfectly, I think I can speak for all when I say that currently moeva's dominating sound is acid bar none. Its organic nature is one of the most interesting of all genres of edm, something that no other can compare to,

3) [a]pendics.shuffle - willow trackmate:: something that will hopefully continue in future promos and become another signature...eerieness. It's a technique Holden has mastered, proving yet again that he is moeva's primary (i'd say) influence...the samples remind me of Ashken very much and make me miss his presence but this group (or person) definately fills in Ashken's [dancing] shoes nicely, the eerieness reminds me of Halloween, it has uncanny beauty

4) Hanzendonk & Pico - status mode:: hahahha, ing sickkk! a track that will make people in the club be like: 'wha? wha? wha?' while the CDJ "chokes" and then make them go into mental-Boratiesque style of dancing when the groooooovvy beats drops. Excellent bridge between the last one and the craziness that is about to follow it and the hip-hopish vocals is a sign of things to come when we get reminded of it by the golden final track. First after-hour seal of approval as a killlllller track.

5) Nathan fake - undoing the laces:: Wow Josh Wink would be twiching to this one uncontralably. Personally to moeva I told that this is the only track that I would say crosses over that line of "sanity" so much so that it can make people go temporarily psyhotic on the dancefloor. Now as I listen to it while I write this, I can't help but love those X-mas-high-hats and snares. People would bleed acid. This one is for the true acid fan at heart, organic battery acid sheltered by the spirit of Christmas :gsmile:

6) Alex smoke - sortie:: One of my personal absolute favorite tracks (perhaps of all time?). Definately the best track I've heard from Alex Smoke and the man is a bonafide genius producer. It creates that breathing space you desperatily craved after the Nathan rollercoaster and of course brings back Holden who loves this track so much he still spins it. Every single element in the track is astounding; the hellicopter, the builded base, that simple but so ing genial melody...this is what angels party to up there..

7) Rodriguez - wannabe a Hit Dj:: Another name I haven't heard of before this set but yet another track that I'm thouroughly impressed with. Brings you back to the madness when you were undoing your laces and is a nicely bridged step up to

8) Hugg & pepp - stacey stiff:: wooooooo...ing party time right here . the Dahlback brothers definately know how to get people moving. Bringing another huge influence, the German techno-god Sven Vath, into the foray: the violins are just that thing that make even the sober people on the floor go absolutely. mental.. Second afterhour seal of approval as a beeeeeaasssstt ripping the roof with roaring rage.

9) Stian klo - ofan:: Klo is back! So nice to see a familiar name..this track absolutely makes his last one moeva promo-ed sound like a lullaby for todlers. The looped melody reminds me of Holden's Chump (his best, ing best production) but what makes the track wonderful is the combination of all elements that make moevalith who he is: trippy cut-up samples, minimal jingles, hoovered baseline maniacle loops and aSSSSSiD. Third seal of approval for Klo's monssssster of a track..

10) Adam beyer - untitled 01:: the jungle, yes it is the jungle according to Beyer and it ain't a safe place if you don't intend to move your body to that TEKNO. The distorted sample that sounds like a person getting anesthetized is haunting and brings back that eerieness that [a]ppendics.shuffle is so good at. An unknown Beyer track that shines.

11) Nathan fake - adamedge:: Personally, my prefered Nathan Fake track from the set seeing as moeva seemed to be impressed enough to include the man twice on the promo. The build up to the song is wonderfully created with the rip that has a-thousand-and-one scissors coming at you to cut you in shreds, all the while beautifully complemented by the wailing main melody.

12) Gabriel Ananda - ihre persoenliche gluecksmelodie:: Found in Sven's 6th season mix, there's not much one can say about this track. Gabriel Ananda continues to amaze with his awesome productions and this could very well be his best. The electroish dominant melody is what moves me the most and is the token "insane" element that is needed to get those pillheads on the floor grasping for invisble objects infront of them. Fourth afterhour seal of approval for Ananda's brilliantly titled creation of electronic raaampppppaaggee

13) Acquasky & meat katie - overneath:: I don't think I've ever heard moevalith with so much energy. Of course it must have something to do with the sped-up BPM that will make the happy-hardcore fans crack a smile, but it's that moment at exactly 46:46 and until the very end that makes this track the most dancefloor based one above all else. Ravers eat this up like blue diamonds. The heart-beat and boat call in the 47th minute is when those lights go down and no one has any clue what the is going on. This is the Fifth and biggest seal of approval, absolute maaaaaaayhhhheeeeemmmmm, moevalith you have out-done yourself with this gargoyle that doesnt stop making you need to move your body.

=======
All in all, well done my friend :D. The fact that you don't have a gig astounds me more than almost anything right now in the local scene.
Keep up the good work and the spirit. It will happen.
