Its the camera auto mode (long shutter) that screws everything up.

That program mode with the little sun..

sorry,
best I can explain.

auto flash and the 'sun' icon, which is like a double flash/double exposure setting, are seperate modes. i have the sd400 and have never had a problem taking pics under red light?

That's called lighting. Everyone's camera doesn't do well in red lighting because it's a very warm color :) And yes, Canon is the best.

correct, I didnt either. I have an sd400 also.

user error? :)

All point and shoot pics come out like ass inside the NOS Citrus room anyways.

I was in the same boat about a month ago. I did a lot of research and came to the decision to get the Canon SD700IS. I wish I would have waited for the SD800 but I wanted a digicam sooner. The SD800IS has a wide angle feature that I REALLY wish I had. I love my SD700 though...I'm still getting used to taking pictures in the club without the flash...I've almost mastered my settings.

yeah that wide-angle is someting i am stoked about. you wish you waited but your still happy with your purchase. i almost bought the 700 as you can see but then hotdogwater pointed me to the 800 for same price so i went that route.

rukes: i know canon is the best but carl zeiss optics ftw!

When I was researching I didn't even know about the SD800IS. My timing was just off a week or so. I can live without the wide angle...for now. ;)

rofl doesnt that suck! i hate that. thats the one thing i HATE about technology. you buy something and the next day/week/month theres a new model out for just a few dollars more.

Sometimes I wish I had a Fuji F30 as a pocket camera - http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spe..._finepixf30.asp ISO of upto 3200! But it doesnt have MPEG-4 video support so recording videos will fill up the memory card right away.

I have a Casio EX-Z750 and it's not that bad, especially when going from an older and bulkier Canon 2MP camera. The camera is solid and even had it dropped a few times with it still working perfectly. Only wish it had a higher ISO than 400, image/video stabilization (isn't an issue for pictures if you a fast shutter speed) and support for 4GB SD cards so I wouldn't have to carry around an extra 2GB card (I take a lot of video) but it's not bad for under $250, maybe $200 now. All the pictures I have up on the net at the moment were taken with this camera. You can view sample pictures and videos at http://www.myspace.com/rizo83 The very last video on myspace is from the only time I've gone to Circus, which I want to go again soon :) I haven't had a chance to go through all the videos from that night but here are some pics I uploaded recently http://www.nextlevel.ws/rizo/060701/

I've been looking for a new pocket camera too, but havent found one that's like my current one but with higher ISO and image/video stabilization. Guess you have to trade off certain features...

no offense but why would you pay $200 for 4gb when you can pay $80 for 4gb? i mean its nice to have the high density sd cards but $200 for a 4gb card is just rediculous. thats the same price as an 8gb CF card.

edit: after doing some quick searching you can get them for $100 but i am curious if they are genuine because i know there is a lot of fraudulent cards out there.

edit2: the sd800is does support SDHC cards.

yes I complain about the cannon's a lot... but they are a great Camara. I got the SD600 now and I love it. I am still trying to work on the red light situation.

The Nice thing about the SD's are they they are small and Flat. So you can take them anywhere and do not need a "press" pass to take photos at events.

I originally got a Patriot 4GB for $80 only to find out it wasnt support on the EX-Z750. Patriot is pretty decent, I've been using their products for the past 2 years in computers and recently my mobile phone.
