there is the same type of whining in London among residents who live near Fanshawe College and UWO. One woman in the LFP was quoted bitching about the students, yet SHE HERSELF lives in the student hosuing complexes across from Fanshawe with her children. Like hello....DO NOT BUY RENT WITHIN VISIBLE PROXIMITY of a university. I would never, ever consider living even a few blocks away from a big campus.
We hear this stuff every year. People complaining about the students, etc. It tends to peak in September/October, then disappears, only to resurface at the beginning of another school year. |
the fact that she lives in student housing and then complains about the students is typical.
And the sad part is people probably take her seriously. |

students will be students. They've always been rowdy and always will be. Half the people complaining were probably doing the same thing when they were 19/20. It just begs the question, why rent or buy in an area with student housing or close proximity to student bars? I like what Waterloo has done. They've tried to spread out student housing so it isn't all packed in together but there are still streets I wouldn't live on here beacuse of the noise. You have to consider these things when you rent or buy. |

| im all for centralizing it. Give the kids a place to be themselves. But that means that those who dont like it shouldnt be there. |

I believe there are some ppl who are complaining about students being rowdy in Waterloo also.
Can't remember what came out of it, or is it still on going |

some kid got beaten up really bad by two guys over a girl on Laurier's property and of course, there was a big outcry about drinking on campus, security, etc. Waterloo has a load of students, nearly on par with Western/Fanshawe in London. King/University area around here is just as loud and crazy as Richmond street in London. |

id hate to be in school now.
10 years ago you could drink all you wanted in your dorm. Smoke all you wanted. The only restrictions they had were no glass bottles and be reasonably quiet after 11 by which we were usually at the club anyways.
These days its like being at a hotel at a lot of the residences ive seen.

the more you restrain the beast, the angrier it lashes out right?
when was the last time we had a law that furthered freedoms? All I ever see are new rules/laws resticting this or that, etc. |
