I love perogies with meat.. too bad they're so time consuming to make and it's difficult to find good store bought ones

Boiled, then fried.. sour cream galore.
There's a Ukranian bizaar thing in November at a church in Mississauga.. Ukranian dancing, beer.. 4384876 Ukranian women in a huge kitchen making all kinds of good stuff.. including these.

Yummy goodness.. I go every year..and I'm Irish..haha.

The closest thing Czechs have to these are called Knedliky, which is a kind of dumpling. There's different varieties, the most common is in a plain loaf, sliced with the entree to soak up the gravy.

The other kinds are steffed Knedliky, and can be stuffed with either meat;

or fruit

Best food ever, if done right. (Usually the ones you buy here in stores are nasty, but the ones my mom makes are friggin amazing)

i dont think people realize that "perog" is a pie not a "pelmen" (more than one is "pelmeni")
