please.
there was no vote.
miller had a lot of plans but didn't do all in his term. he may have all the fancy plans now but once elected he just sits there and does nothing. we don't need a mayor like that. |
we dont vote directly for PM in this country ;)
hahaha
and i agree...all miller has done is hand out cash to his buddies. |

i agree. people spend 40+ hours in a city because they work there, it's practically their home...they should be able to vote since it directly affects them too. |
exactly... and what toguy described is exactly what happens with property owners. A property owner could live in beijing and still have the right to vote under todays rules. |

| what we have in Toronto is a "weak Mayor" system. Basically if the city councillors don't back the Mayor, the mayor can't do all. It's not just the Miller's fault.. Blame city council and their constant bickering, on EVERYTHING. There has to be concensus among city council to make any major changes in the city... and you'll notice that there rarely ever is. |

agreed but in cases where the mayor has made major decisions hes always sold out or gave in to his friends.
A strong mayor makes strong choices. He doesnt give in to illegal strikes and tow the status quo when the house is falling apart |

I'm not really sure which ones you are referring to .... Kirkland Lake sounded like a great plan, but would have been a disaster.
I agree that Subway lines are way more important than subway cars, especially since the "cookie cutter condos" are taking up the waterfront. The street car service on Queen's Quay is not enough to handle all those people, and a subway line there, or even along King or Queen would help out much more than replacement cars. |

i just think there would be more turnout if people who worked in a city could vote there as well
As it is, property owners can vote even if they dont live there. So why not employees? |
um...no.
move here or work elsewhere. the day that someone from the 905 or beyond has a say in municipal politics that affect MY property taxes, development in MY neighbourhood, bylaws that don't even concern someone merely employed in the city, etc...that's the day you'll see me actually march in protest, lol.
ridiculous... |

The grabage in the mine would have leaked into sources of drinking water.
I know .... source?
I don't have it anymore .... it was so long ago and all. |

Miller is a TOOL.
Oh, and as for the plan to send T.O. garbage to Kirkland Lake, that would have been a disaster because tests proved that the site was not viable. I for one would not appreciate drinking and swimming in garbage byproduct that seeped through the open mine into surrounding water systems and lakes. Kirkland Lake is not far from a place called home for me for 19 years, where all my family still are, and I'd like to keep it that way (not in a negative way, but as for their health and wellness; because no-one needs to be poisoned by garbage).
edit
It would have seeped from Kirkland Lake (surrounding lakes) into Lake Temiskaming and then the Ottawa river, then Fleuve St. Laurent and then the Great Lakes. That doesn't sound smart to me. |

Miller lives in High Park, Gothic ave. to be exact. Has anyone spoken to people that live in that area? They are what is wrong with this city.
My hatred for him is deeper than that but I figure that statement sums it up quite nicely. |
