This is not my place to say it, but I wouldnt mind Aria to move into another venue, but a smaller one that would cater to like 600 people for the afterhours.
I know its all about the money.
One thing that would resurect Aria (imho) would be every month have a special night with a different record label or association with another club from another part of the globe.
Have a Renaissance night... Bedrock night... Pacha... would be interesting too see in this city. |

2)DJ Dan-Nov 2005
3)ummmmmmmmm I'm not sure...Possibly Howells for NYE 2005?
Oh and MORE THAN HONOURABLE mention: each and every one of Creator's sets, especially those journey-like 6 hour ones, when he was tired and couldn't hear anything and everything hurt...he was there. He is why Aria still breathed life lately. Point final. I've told him so myself and many people who actually work there told me the same, so, hats off to the best MTL DJ. Hopefully, bigger and better things await you my sweet! |

One of the things I most regret is not being here for Aria's glory years when they kept bringing consistantly amazing acts...Sven, Liebing, Hawtin etc. :(
My top three:
3. Mauro + Junkie XL
2. James Holden
1. Sasha + Steve Porter + Tall Paul
..not to mention I discovered all my favorite locals; Creator, Maus and Mini in Aria.
Aria has always been the epitome of what an afters should look and sound like for me. I will never forget it.

First show at Aria was Hybrid in I think 2003? 6 hour set or so; they ing owned, and I was absolutely blown away. I was in Montreal for a week from Vancouver and could barely comprehend how good the venue, the sound, and vibe was; nothing in Vancouver even remotely ing compared to the goodness of Aria.
I'm really, really, really upset that it's closing. |
