As they say "the grass is always greener on the other side", and there will be plenty of people that will complain no matter what they have access to.
I think that the TO scene is far better than that of any other city in Canada. Its decent, and there is plenty to chose from, in terms of venues and crowds. Some minor improvement can always be beneficial, but for the most part I don't think its half bad here. |

when i think of club scene... i thinkg of after hours, so i voted that it is ok right now. The mainstream club scene is terrible and we all know that so lets not even talk about that.
the only city i partied in other then toronto to is cancun, and let me tell you i went there with huge expectations. i thought i will be blown away by music/clubs/crowds.
and after 3 days i wished i was partying back in toronto. so based on my visits to cancun i say that our scene is great and we should all be happy to have it here |
Are you kidding me? Cancun is wicked! I'll take superclubs with 35$USD all you can drink till 6am anyday of the week! |

the music sux there... and the crowds are extremely imature. i think i got spoiled by the afterhours envoirnment because i cant enjoy a club that doesnt play edm
i hate bien in a club where i am the only one actualy dancing, while everyone else is either talking or having dry sex on the dance floor |

| Fair enough. I did not go to cancun, but acapulco, and the clubs there were AWESOME! Massive and 2 of them had some awesome house dj's. The best clubs I've ever been to hands down. |

the breaks scene needs a kick in the head and the breakers need to be educated |
what are you talking about????
breaks scene exploded in 2005. instead of having to go to back rooms or smaller rooms to get your breaks fix now we have parties where breaks djs are headliners.
instead of waiting one or two months to hear big name dj now we have them twice in one weekend, sometimes going head to head in the same night at two different venues.
look who was here since new years. from the top of my head, freq nasty, freestylers, icey, smalltown dj's, crystal method, stanton warriors, greg j, afrika ing bambaataa and so on. i think only evil 9 missed us this year.
plus we have locals that people in other cities would kill to have. blc, d-monic, red turtle, robb g, phat conductor, dirtbike kid... list goes on and on, and all of them have gigs on a weekly basis (and those gigs are killer).
so what is this "education" that you speak of????
if you wanna say "they should bring dj's like general midi" or something like that, you have to understand that 95% of breakheads in toronto are leaning towards funky side or breakbeat. that or old school. people are getting what they want to and you dont screw up with the winning formula. i personally think that breaks is doing awesome here.
cw, we need bigger venues. there is much more people that wanna party all night than some 2-3 years ago so the lineups are longer and sometimes it gets really rammed inside of some clubs, its just not much fun. if you dont have space to bust a move, whats the point then??? i was always wondering if, lets say, digweed is coming to the guv complex, why would you have him play at the guv if you could put him in the koolhaus (if the koolhaus is empty that night, like it was on many occasions).
also, some venues are just pushing it with number of people inside. 200-300 hundred people less sounds much (moneywise) but cmon. lots of people are not going to some places just cause of that. when im out i wanna dance, i wanna drink, meet new people, pick up girls and so on. i dont wanna look for some corner where i can have some space and stay there for the whole night thinking ", its gonna take me at least 20 min to get to the washroom, 10 minutes to wait to take a piss, 20 minutes to go back and then somebody will take my corner. it, i think i can hold it in at least 4 more hours"
like jayx1 said, the crowd is different nowadays too but i have no problem with that whatsoever. people wanna have fun, some poeple's fun is dancing, some people's fun is flexing muscles. as long as there's no fighting, nobody should care. but i agree, poeple gotta lighten up a bit. |
