DOS Games nostalgia.... (pg. 2)

I was a big gaming geek from 1987-1996... then I dropped Quake and found Trance.

Psy-T: As for MoM - I wasn't a fan of the PC version - however - I played the 1986 C64 version religiously as it was highly addictive despite being pretty basic in nature. It had the most catching music yet on the C64... So much so that back in 2002/2003 some Finnish producer had a section with a similar melody - I emailed him about it and he had played games on the C64 around that time.. I found it too coincidental due to its likeness. I'll try to find the thread on TA where I talked about it years ago.

For the curious, link to the game image + audio file here:

When I'm old and grey I'll open up an old school gaming site for us nostalgic geezers... since I'm pretty sure there are very few people out there with as many titles as I have. For all the games I listed above I also have every possible cheat/trainer/walkthrough... once I find that list I'll post it. :)

^ those are funny too :)

wow, i had absolutely no idea about that c64 game, and MoM is my favorite game ever :eyes: i don't think even most of the geeks that are trying to get a MoM 2 made know about it either, are you sure they're basically the same game?

hmm, i'm pretty sure each and every one of those games are available on Home Of The Underdogs, the best resource for old games online or offline imo. but if you do have some stuff they don't, you could send them a copy :)

I used to play Chuck Yeagers Air Combat a lot (ok not really dos). Other than that the only DOS games I used to play were loadrunner, spyhunter, and a wierd game where you were a mercheantman trading goods on ships and sinking pirates ... I think it was called Saipan something or other.

Don't think MoM on the PC was the same as on the C64 but you can look into that for me :)

Thanks for that site! Never knew of it - however, I haven't done anything with these old games since TA - before that I'd hang out on #oldwarez/efnet irc and I'd send up oldies that people requested..

Omega_Blue: The original Maniac Mansion was a classic but I didn't play it on the PC since I finished it on the C64. Zack McCracken and the Alien Mindbenders was another good one. It is sad that there are no games that exist like that now - where you had to focus more on the gameplay/story than solely on how nicely certain textures are rendered.

agreed, old school point-and-click adventures are a forgotten genre, i suppose. you can't go wrong with a title like "zack mccracken and the alien mindbenders" or "rex nebular and the cosmic genderbender" though :stongue:

I preferred X-Com personally, they really should do a remake with flashy graphics but the same gameplay. :D
