I think I'm going to hold off on that Samsung purchase for now. Hellz, if it's on sale now, it will be on sale again later on.

Samsung 56" DLP™ HDTV (HL-S5687W)
SAM HLS5687W Price was: $2599.99
You save: -$400.00

You pay: $2199.99

Yesterday that same TV was $1999.99, the savings was $600.00!

Guess I missed that extra $200.00  Oh well.

I just purchased the Samsung LN-S3251D 32 in LCD with my employee discount at Best Buy for 1,071.00. The current sale price is 1,349.99 so I think it's a good deal. The picture quality is amazing. I actually went in to buy the 999.99 "manager's special" Bravia competitor, but seeing them in action side to side, the Samsung won me over for a little more money. Plus it's got 2 HDMI ports which is rare for tv's of this size. I wasn't willing to spend over 500 more for the 1080p 40 in. (Didn't need the size anyway). I'm completely satisfied and I highly recommend this model for the best of the 32 in LCD's out there.

tis good to see many flat screens now with the digital tuner built in, a set top box is just clunky, one extra bit of gear to turn on, house, cable etc. Even better now LG have put in hard drive recorders into their boxes, another bit of gear, cables etc you don't have to worry about.
better that way than hundreds of dollars more on intelligent remote controls

+1

I've got my HD antenna set up as a temporary fix but I'm getting the full HD box setup next week. HD in the tv is a great plus I agree.

Edit: True about those remotes but they ARE pretty baller when you see them in action. My friend has the top of the line Harmony and while I'd never spend that much on a remote, I can see the benefits to it.

i'd certainly look into those remotes. I think i have about 8 remote controls in my living room now. getting one that knows to watch a dvd it must turn on tv, set to the right channel, turn on dvd, set sound system up etc all in one command would be so convenient.

Yep. Even with my discount it's still over 100 bucks for a remote.

Anyone have pictures of their setups?

One thing I find terrible is how the average install is done so poorly it makes one wonder why some people bother spending so much.

People with Hi-Def screens with their dvd players plugged in with rca connectors lol... what a waste!
