At one point I would have welcomed a package though.

Yeah bro, it's at Moores.

Basically, a company in the states bought us - and have made several departments redundant. Store Development (my dad), Merchandising (myself), Warehouse and the IT Departments have survived untouched.

Jeez, I am DYING to be laid off!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PICK ME I cry daily.

Years of work, and how hard you doesn't mean much. Company looks at the bottom line. If you're overpaid for the work, you may be next to go.

Unfortunately for me, I'm underpaid and indispensable. Sux to be me.

I'm surprised they took so long to act.

I was there when MW bought Moore's... good old Steve Nitchen is he still there? I'll never forget training up at Collingwood- suit stacking and pant stacking... awww yeah.

So they left departments alone at Moore's for 4 years and then they decided to trim things? Wow.

I find at this company they ask you to make yourself indispensable, "carve yourself a niche," is what I was told, so I have which is fine because I'm getting paid for it (I think) and I'm planning to leave on my own accord next year.

but it does cause many people to leave the company who would have otherwise stayed because their managers don't help them advance to another position if they are so valuable. Definitely a catch 22.
