I find at this company they ask you to make yourself indispensable, "carve yourself a niche," is what I was told, so I have which is fine because I'm getting paid for it (I think) and I'm planning to leave on my own accord next year.

but it does cause many people to leave the company who would have otherwise stayed because their managers don't help them advance to another position if they are so valuable. Definitely a catch 22.

I'm told my job is 'evolving' instead of promoting me. But I am encouraged to get green belt certified, so that may be good on paper.

I have 10 years here, so I have about 8 months of severence pay coming my way if laid off. I'm well skilled and connected enough to find another job right away, so that severance package is my end of the rainbow.

I was called into the bosses office once, this was after a small round of lay offs. Naturally you're thinking you're next. What they decided to do, was tell me they were laying EVERYONE ELSE off, and that I should know. They said I could leave and take the rest of the day off, to avoid being around while they layed off about 15 other people.

Smaller company, but definitely odd. hahaha

No job is secure anymore.

Unless your Rick DiPietro hahha...biggest joke ever!

But yeah, that sucks about all the layoffs. I'd be thankful that I still have a job.

Always important to have a backup emergency fund haha. I've been studying to much for my personal financial management exam tomorrow.

green belt certified

Do it. Six Sigma is a HUGE asset.

Next summer I'm thinking of doing my green belt via Motorola University.

That is why it's best to work for yourself.

10 years...wow that's almost unheard of in today's world.
