Although it could very well be true it's only been Buster Olney from ESPN reporting that the Red Sux got Daisuke. So I guess I'm still waiting on real confirmation before I jump the gun. However, if they really paid $38-45 million just for the negotiating rights to a pitcher that has never pitched in the majors, along with the 40 million more they'd have to pay him for his contract... I just think it's quite risky. He could very well be Hideki Irabu. I was hoping the Yanks would get him but for like 25 million upfront. I don't think the Yanks will get Zito or Schmidt.
3 prospects is pretty good for a selfish 38 year old piece of crap Sheffield. Humberto Sanchez really has some promise...some gordito eating Fatolo Colon promise. Dude is 6 ft 6, 270 lbs. I'd like him to sumo wrestle Sidney Fatson. |

i think so myself. I think the Yankees got way the better deal out of this. Sheffield is not the same player as 5 or 10 years ago(roid era). Everyone could significally notice his drop in numbers since he openly admitted to using "legal" roids. And i don't think he could play as a "role model" for the younger players on the team. If Pudge couldn't be their role model, do you think Sheff could do a better job ? |

I'm just glad the Tigers got a Class A ... so they're DONE... no repeat performance next year for them with a TUDE like Sheffield's.... |

Looking like the Yanks will trade Jaret Wright to the Orioles for reliever Chris Britton
Cubs will keep Aramis Ramirez, signing him to a 5-year deal, and Kerry Wood (with a 1-year deal) |

A's fan here...
actually i think zito will go to the mets because-
1) omar minaya now realizes the value of healthy pitching
2) " said on TV that he "likes barry zito"
3) his buddy/former pitching coach rik peterson is there
so i suspect the mets are in the front running. the padres may be a dark horse as well, as it is a socal pitchers park |

hey I hope he goes to the mets... or anyone other than the Yanks... I like Zito, I don't want him to be on a team like the Yanks, its like when Moose went to the Bronx... he was such a likeable guy, but then he puts on the pinstripes, and he is not so likeable anymore...
BUT, screw the west coast, bring Zito to the East Coast!!! |

| I could see the Yankees getting into the Zito sweepstakes now that they have 3 pitchers when they resign overrated Mike Mussina. That would be Moose, Wang, and back surgery piece of crap the Big Bust Randy Johnson. Oh yeah, someone named Carl Pavano. He's worthless as Kyle Farnsworthless. I mean with the Red Sux forking over 42 MILLION dollars just to negotiate with Daisuke plus 40 million more in contract... sheesh that's a lot of moolah for an unproven guy. We shall see. Yanks can win the post season with Zito. Sure beats the Big Bust or Jaret Wright. Why would the Orioles trade for Jaret Wright? Oh wait... it's the Orioles. Zito is kind of mediocre though, 3.83 ERA over the last 5 years with a declining strikeout to walk ratio every year. Not a good warning sign for future success. I might be inclined to take a flyer on Gil Meche from Seattle though. |
