I got lucky. My fiance likes the fact that I "make music." The sucker! Hah. No I kid.
The main thing is she is a fashion designer, so she is always designing clothes, sewing, cutting out patterns etc.
Basically she sits in her cave, I sit in my cave. Then we hang out and eat and have sex.
It's wonderful. :) |

Well i can agree on some points, but i tell you. To make a realtionship work, i doesnt matter how much you really love one another, it is a "full time job".
Meaning, that if you want you releationship to last for a long time you need some time apart, doing thing that you did before you met her, and both need to respect eachothers interrests. Otherwise you will kill the releationship.
And if the one you meet dont have any interrests or hobbys, its harder to make that person understand how you feel, which often leads to discussions. Thats why i told my girlfriend to find something creative to do, and she relized that i had a point.
However, if that girl you are with really love you and what you do, she will understand or she will not. This has nothing to do with sounds first and placing people you love in second place.
But if you love someone for who they are and for what they do, you want them to do the same to you, which in the end will result in that you will compromise wihtout having to think about it.
Its all about give and take respect... If i give, i take.. If she wont give, i wont give and she wont have anything to take ;)
Cheers

my experience on the topic:
i've always tried to keep my music and stuff personal...separate from my relationships and friends at times. i've always kind of been embarassed by it because i never wanted to be that guy that was like "oh yeah i'm a producer" or "i'm a dj" because i never really felt i had something to show for it. i used to not have any friends that liked EDM so it would be hard to talk about music at all because it's "techno music". in past relationships i've kept it to myself and really it's only ever caused problems.
looking back on it i can see that really i was just trying to hide apart of myself...which that can only last so long. so i say it...just be who you are. if they don't like it...well there's probably other things that are issues as well.
don't think i could be like "look woman...i'm working on music now go away", but i think i'm done hiding stuff like that. too much effort... |

Yes - the upper one for production and the lower one for the girl. And don't ever get them mixed up. |

i used to get to caught up in the production thing and never had time for my girlfriend as i mentioned and was a very stupid thing to do. she supports me 100% and as she is a trance lover she is a great critic sometimes better than other producers as she is the listener and she would say if it would make her dance or if she wouldnt notice it.
shes attending a talk with me tomorrow which lasts 4 hours all about music and has to travel an hour just to get there for something she has no interest in production wise. she also pushes me to send in demos to clubs for djing and got me to go to a work shop with gleave dobbin and fergie.
what more can you ask for in a relationship! i was nearly a fool. |
