Not only this, I'm hearing that 400,000 isn't going to be the actual number. And let's not forget what happened in Japan with the launch over there.

If the launch is as scarce as I think it will be, these consoles will be worth a LOAD of money. I wouldn't be surprised if some sold for more than 2 grand.

Doesn't matter, this isn't about "OMG the PS3 is so kewl!"

From the looks of things, if you manage to get a PS3 (or two..or more) on launch day, you will make some serious cash off of it.

A bunch of business men had a bunch of old chinese people buy as many as possible. When they were interviewed on the PS3, none of them could speak Japanese. This is what the article and the pics/vids told me...

Maybe it was exaggerated and taken out of context.

yea could be exaggerated because it shouldn't really matter if they could speak japanese or not

profitable for who:conf: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

Man Sony is really playing with fire making a relatively short life span product into such a high ticket item.

From what I have gathered from financial analysis readings this is certainly not going to bring them back in the green any time soon.

Massive layoffs, battery problems etc .... Sir Howard Stringer is still a bit of ways from saying the boat from it's wreck.

i knew this would happen since the beginning of the year. it was so obvious that Sony wouldn't be able to meet demand...ugh, i wish i preordered a ps3...

haha...this thread made me laugh. My older brother is paying me 200 bucks to chill with him outside of wal-mart on launch day. He is getting one himself, and hes giving me the money to actually buy the other PS3 because its limited to one per person. So i buy the PS3 with his money, then he said he will give me 200 bucks for camping outside the store with him. His plans with the extra PS3? EBAY!lol Just look at what some of those PS3's are goin for. I hope all goes well for him when he puts it up on ebay.:toothless

I'm still predicting that Sony completely missed the mark with PS3 and will suffer immense financial setbacks for at least the next two years because of how they're handling it.

I have no doubt (as is well documented across TA) that Sony does indeed have a good eye for what gaming will become in the future - I just don't think this was the right generation to take the gamble on creating a gaming system that is far more than just a gaming system. I still think Microsoft is taking a solid approach... But, only time (the next year) will tell.
