to anyone who doesn't like spiders, just remember, if you've got spiders in your house, you have less mosquitos and flies :D

My friend is in Afghanistan right now and he says these things are way worse in real life because the screeching is unlike anything he's ever heard :nervous:

I told him to bring me back a dead one, he said that would be hard because he's never seen a dead one :stongue:

A spider that screams??? NO SPANK YOU

Theresa
I have *severe* arachnophobia.

One night I came home from partying and was laying in bed with my laptop. I had the lights off, so I was only able to see a little from the light coming off the screen.

Anyway, as I was laying there, I thought I saw a black thing move on my blanket. Immediately I catapulted myself the out of bed, turned on the light and stood on the chair. Smack dab in the middle of my bed was a ing HUGE spider, (ok, maybe about 2cm x 3cm, but that is HUGE enough).

After about 15-20 mins of me running around the room trying to make sure I didn't lose it whilst maintaining 5 feet distance from it, and trying to devise a plan to kill it, I finally decided that I would throw the entire side panel of my PC at it, and then jump on top of it for good measure.

ING CARPET. The crawled out from underneathe while I WAS ON TOP OF IT, causing me to jump away and squeal.

Please keep in mind that this was about 4am, my roomie is sleeping, and other people were in the house as well, crashing in the living room after partying too.

So a minute later, I get a knock at the door from my very concerned roomie. Apparently I was making a lot more noise than I was intending to, and he thought it sounded like I was struggling in my room. I tell him about the spider, so he kills it and flushes it for me.

I burst into tears. My roomie gives me a hug to calm me down, and notices my heart beating about a million beats per minute. He seriously spent like 5 minutes just trying to talk me down from my terror.

Finally I went back in my room, but I of course did a thorough check for any other spiders, and then slept with the light on.

LOL.

I am trying to get an Au Pair position, and as much as I would *LOVE* to go to Australia (aside from the expense issues,) I'm not sure I could handle their spiders. I would probably offer the kids as a negotiation if ever was I cornered by one of their freaky arachnids. :haha:
