Why do people use the english word 'ridiculous' as a synonym for 'great', 'awesome'? Isnīt it supposed to mean something like 'laughable', 'funny' or 'absurd'? Why and when has it started? Is it a trend?
Itīs ridiculous! |

There is your answer..... the use of the word ridiculous as a synonym for great is meant to convey that the grandure of something is of such a magnatude that it is absurd or beyond logical comprehension. For instance; The astrological achievements of the Mayan people were ridiculous in light of them being a bronze aged culture. |
