7 - 9 is wat you should aim for, 8 is the best... specialy if you are working out, its realy important to get the proper amount of sleep, for you body to recover properly |

And then he went on a expedition to Antarctica during the summer when there is no night. All day he stayed awake, for the whole 3 months. |

Obviously there is some debate over how much sleep a person needs because it varies - the best way to test how much sleep you need is when you have a holiday or something, or even just 1 or 2 mornings where you can wake up without an alarm, go to sleep at the normal time and allow your body to wake up on its own.
This should tell you how much sleep you need. When I do this, I consistently need 8.5 hours. Sadly I usually only get this on weekends if I go to bed by midnight (because I can't sleep later than 830) |

WOW, if i do that i can sleep for 12 hours plus! i need atleast 8 to feel good throughout the day. Is that normal? |

I have slept for over 19 hours and once over 21 hours another time! It was great – and I suppose I needed it! I can sleep through anything…
