i went to hear him drop his newest track Never Be The Same Again, i req'd it twice he just smile and nodded,.. bastard played it as his encore hehe.. so i had to stay until the end..

i think he played the crowd really well and took stereo into consideration, but he should have his played his last 3 tracks (all his productions) after halfway thru when all the newbs were still uber-loose, more arms in teh air \o/

A bit late of a review...but yeah.

What a fantastic fkin night. Markus surpassed my expectation by a LOAD, he was absolutely amazing. He really showed his versatility busting out house tunes, and playing HARD which isn't really what he's known for. Great to hear the trancy stuff too! Was glad to hear Never Be The Same, even though it kinda sucked that it was at the end. Without You Near is always nice... he also played one of my all time favorite tracks, Dogzilla - Without You, once again so that was great too. Though a fkin fight broke out right near me during the song! Someone tried to pick pocket some black guy and the black dude BAT him up! Whipped him against the wooden platform at the back and landed a FEW good shots. So that was a tad weird, never really seen something like that go on in the middle of the Stereo dancefloor.

Other than that it was basically a perfect night...his flow was flawless and godamn did he ever sound great on Stereo's system. Insomnia was good too, she was playing ridiculously hard. At some points it was just straight up techno, there was nothing trance about it! Cool to hear her play Proper Education (Daft Mix) and E-Craig - Home. Mixing wasn't that tight from her but track selection was good.

Overall great night...the place was packed and I really hope this leads to even more trance bookings at Stereo.

How about some Above and Beyond at Stereo? Now that would be a night and a half.

Hi All,
All reviews that I read pointed all to the same direction.

1) Markus played a "fantastik HARD set" whick isn't really what he's known for and everyone said that it was absolutely AMAZING !!!

2) Insomnia played a very good set to warmed up the crowd. Hard she played ? Sure !!! This is what she's recognized for - Trance and Tek-Trance!!! And nobody can say that the crowd wasn't on fire on the dancefloor !!! People was jumping all over the floor, arms in the air and screaming ... :D

Insomnia knows better than each other what the crowd wants. She played for all the best Trance events and she play for the "fireman's ball" ( + 1000 peoples ) since 6 years already which is basically regconized for Trance. There's no secrets for her to figured out what the Trance crowd wants.

To tell you all the truth, Markus was not very happy to see her playing a hard set like that. Just before Markus started his set he told me about that ... and I answered him : Look at the crowd, the dancefloor is on fire, she well knows the crowd in Montreal ... she just gave what peoples wants and warmed up the crowd for you ...

Everyone who was at Armin in September, can tell you how much Armin played Hard that night ... Why ??? Wizz, give him the tempo and opened him the way ... and again the night was totaly freakkkkk !!! :D

I've always been a Markus Schulz fan obviously, but last night he really blew away my expectations. I had no idea he was as versatile a DJ as that, and he really ing raped Stereo in a massive 5+ hour set that crossed genres all over the place, from house to trance to techno and back again. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as it was; he really demonstrated that he was not remotely out of place at Stereo and completely rocked the place. Dance floor was still full at 10:20am

This is an exemple of comments showed what i'm talking about ...

Peoples wasn't expecting him to follow Insomnia's ways ..... and even Markus wasn't prepared for that ... BUT HE DID !!! Result: A AWESOME NIGHT !!!

I came back in the DJ booth 3 hours later ( around 7h30 ) and Markus was smiling at me and he was happy to see the crowd reacting so much the way he played and feel sorry to tell me what he said before he started regarding Insomnia's set. He understood much better what i'm talking about earlier ...

Trance crowd are not the same everywhere and specially when you travel around the world. However, local DJs have the most experience to figured out what the crowd wants ... a professional DJ like Markus showed us that he can be versatil and surprize everyone with an extraordinary set like nobody never heard from him before.

Advise to all DJ : Don't jumped at the first sight on the DJ who's playing just before you ... maybe he's or she's trying to show you a better way that you don't even thing yourself to go on ...

Nice to meet you Maher, Erika and Sylvain in the DJ Booth. It was a pleasure ... and sorry for my bad english .. :S

You are totally right, jumping on the flow of the warm-up djs is a must, and all the big djs know that, he was mad or upset becuase he didnt want to START hard, that isnt his style, and as a result of that his set suffered, because his last 2 hours (around 9.15) was really slow and he couldnt read the crowd anymore...and he knew that.

Im sure Insomia knows how to read a crowd cause of her extensive experience, but its Stereo, everyone loves to play hard there!

Usually djs (esp like Schulz)finish hard and try to go out with a bang, but since Insomia began hard he had no choice.. regardless it was still an amazing night.

I really don't think his set suffered, after 5 hours and 1/2 keeping people jumping all over the place, even Armin last time haven't played so long ( about 4h )... I really thing the mission was successfully completed by Markus. It was the time for many of them to go home and for the others cooling down a bit. Don't forget that too !

Believe me Markus was still reading the crowd at this time.

The other side of the medal, don't forget that Insomnia have is own crowd in Montreal which is follow her and was there for her much more than for Markus. People who knows her, expect that she will give them the same quality set and performed better than ever. The only thing that I can say, Insomnia don't play "boom" as usual, she let the door open for Markus do to it, from the playlist of Markus seen on this post, much of the tracks could be played by her and she didn't do it. And even with that, the sound selection was excellent like many peoples said.

However, even she retained herself to lauched "boom" on the dancefloor and control the crowd for Markus, she cannot changes totaly her style ... her style it's what Insomnia represent ... like every djs ... :D She was just more than perfect to started this night, and like you said "jumping on the flow of the warm-up djs is a must" ... Completed Mission for Insomnia too !!! :D

My 2 cents.
