Named by the Algonquin indians and means Hilly Island or Place of Intoxication!

Two diverse meanings I know but...............

Kitchener, Ontario.... hmm... home of RIM (well waterloo really but what's the diff?), the largest Bavarian festival outside of Munich, birthplace of.... me, and was called Berlin until the first great war when most of the Germans who inhabited the town were thrown into internment camps (my great grandpa included) and those of English and Scottish decent siezed the opportunity to show the Kaiser a lesson by changing the name to that of an English Naval hero, oh and the location of the famed University of Waterloo (which due to it's world class engineering department and love of foreign students is now officially the 6th largest Asian nation).... oh, and my school Wilfrid Laurier University (a bastion of the WASP elites in Canada... I'm not sure how I got in there).

LOL you did our city better justice than I did.

And yes, there are A LOT of asians here in K-W. I find that I will often be the only white girl in the midst of asians when I am on campus. However, this means we have some pretty sweet sushi bars here too :D

my city was burned to the ground by union troops during the american civil war.

the only building spared was st. francis xavier cathedral which still stands today. it was spared as the bishop of the dioces of alexandria begged the union troops not to burn it on the front steps of the church. here's a pic.

Kirkintilloch was a place of importance in Roman times, when a fort was established there on the east-west barrier across Scotland, nowadays known as "The Antonine Wall".

This was constructed around 142AD as a boundary line between Roman civilization and wilder territory not under permanent Roman control. For a short period it replaced the more southerly "Hadrian's Wall".

The departure of the Romans was followed by a Dark Age when little is known of Kirkintilloch's history, although the name "Kirkintilloch," in its original form of Caerpentaloch "The Fort at the Head of the Ridge," dates from this period.

Light began to dawn again during the twelfth century, when the prominent Comyn family established a castle in central Kirkintilloch, with a parish church to the south (at the locality now occupied by the Old Aisle Cemetery).

The Burgh of Kirkintilloch was created in the year 1211, and a local market was held weekly thereafter.

My city is a thriving metropolis of asymptomatic action. The people here came from poor lower class primordial slime backgrounds, but now everyone is rich & owns mega-microns worth of hair follicle real-estate.

The population is around thirty three trillion, which is a great effort taking into account that the other day allot of us died in a war against anti dandruff shampoo.

Currently the local police are setting up speed cameras all over our city because of the problem with adolescence sperm racing. Locals are sick of wiping sperm out of their tentacles.

In Chester it is still legal to shoot a Welshman with a crossbow if he is found inside the Roman walls that surround the city centre after midnight :p
