A life question

Lets assume that our body is completely biological, which is what most of the scientific world does anyway.

Now, I'm not a biologist, so this is why I ask this question. The reason we have a self-awareness is because of our unique brains. You have something different that makes you know you're John (Throwing a name out there). And I have something different that makes me know I'm Nick (Real name).

Lets say science becomes very advanced in the future, and we can create things molecule by molecule, or even atom by atom. Lets also say that freezing bodies isn't as damaging as it is now, and everything about me is completely preserved.

If scientists in the future used my old body as a model, and built me atom by atom, and molecule by molecule, without using any of my original parts, would it work? If they got everything right, the connections in my brain, the chemicals, an exact replica of my brain, would it be me?

Because if the reason I am self-aware is because of the way my brain is mapped out, I think it would work.

I was sitting on the ter thinking this one up.
Fast Turtle
why on earth would science preserve you (or any of us for that matter)
Mebot
No, because you are a product of your environment and no scientist can replicate that.
Sunsnail
I'm not entirely sure how the brain stores information...
ZeJayMan
i think that no matter how advanced tech gets you won't be able to recreate brain connections and you won't be the same person because it's life experience that moulds you.

unfortunately i think you swapped the organs used in this process around :p

I think you should read "Design For Dying" by Timothy Leary.

Yeah man, but it has to be something natural. And most of the time, humans can recreate natural things, artificially. So wtf? imagine that yo
Sunsnail
true, so I believe that it would be theoretically possible.

get on it!

No scientist could recreate my schlong, it would take an artist.

The fact that all life is nothing but stimuli (no souls/spirits), and everything is a social construct. :(

I touched on this a long time ago. Our brains are nothing but organs, why wouldn't they be able to replicate you?
