| Indeed. Let's just leave it at that, shall we? |

Supermarket music, unfortunately is music played that is generally of a poor production, in the imaginative terms. Its repetitive and uses simple sounds.
Regarding this album, the production and mastering etc were fine, however, nothing stood out. I just don't think the album was creative or yet imaginative. |
Would you care to elaborate on that as well?
I happen to have found lots of interesting layers and details throughout the album.
Sorry for reviving the discussion. :o |

You are on tranceaddict.com mate.... not 'pompous-psuedo-jazzaddict.com'
Electronic music by nature can be repetitive. In comparison to alot of of stuff out there atm I found this to be refreshing cool. It is minimal in parts yes, but that is the point, down tempo music usually is - and who says you have to have a 36 bar alternating melody & accompanying tracks to make good music?
So, as back up to your words - what would you recommend as a better alternative? just out of interest

We don't really have any roles, we just bounce ideas back and forth and see what happens. And, more often than not, we tend to think scarily similar thoughts. |

Ah crap, I thought Mart was normal. :D
Anyway, I was bored and found myself looking at Nik's signature and that lead me here. Now that I wasted my time listening to this I might as well give some comments.
Tracks:
1. Sets the mood nicely. [8.5/10]
2. Cheap sounding bassdrum, tighten it. Nice ambient "Thomas Newman" instrument. [8.5/10]
3. Nice beats. Guitar sound a bit too delayed. [8.0/10]
4. Very balanced track, but malplaced, maybe switch 3 and 4. [8.0/10]
5. Nothing special. Should have been placed later in the album, cool down track after "Lost Without Trace" before interlude? [7.5/10]
6. Nice, but malplaced. Places very nicely after "Infinitude", just do the previous changes and presto! [8.0/10]
7. Very nice. [9.0/10]
8. Love the strings, but could have done with some more harmonies, too repetitive. Bad bassdrum again. [8.0/10]
9. A bit boring, especially after the orchestral interlude... [7.5/10]
10. Nice bass. [8.5/10]
11. A bit boring. [7.5/10]
12. Good wake up track, when you've slept through the whole album. ;) Shouldn't fade out. [8.0/10]
12b. Could have been another full track. Nothing special "bonus" about it. How is it a reprise, perse? Whoops, per se. :D [7.5/10]
Changes:
1-2: 9.5/10
2-3: 8.0/10 - Beginning of "Infinitude" sounds a bit awkward.
3-4: 7.0/10 - Barber inappropriate between two "kicking" tracks.
4-5: 6.5/10 - Kills the vibe.
5-6: 7.5/10
6-7: 8.5/10
7-8: 5.0/10 - Shouldn't have been a silent change.
8-9: 6.0/10 - Shorter silence between change.
9-10: 8.5/10
10-11: 8.5/10
11-12: 7.5/10 - "Fire Walk With Me" (Moby - Go) reference?
Overall tracks: 8.0/10
Overall album: 7.5/10
So, solid work mates, but no parrot mark this time. :clown: |
