Did you read the disclaimer? No? You should have, otherwise you'd still be tasting the salty as opposed to the bitter.
That is to say: never take Ishkur seriously. Even when he's not being tongue-in-cheek. Just ignore him. He may even compliment a producer or two, but if he does, repeat to yourself these words: It's a trap. |

| Yep. And the Ferry Corsten thing is a joke. He really meant that Paul Oakenfold killed Trance. If you ask me, i\\\'d say the label Platipus had a big hand in kicking Trance downhill as well, since as far as I know it was the most popular label releasing Progressive Trance in the mid-90\'s. |

Platipus? Union Jack? Art of Trance? The label that defined acid trance? Are they not the ones who released L.S.G. - Hidden Sun of Venus? They may have released one or two stinkers along the way, but by and large, they and Eye Q were the top labels in promoting a truly trancy atmosphere. Don't think of mid-90's progressive trance as all bad, because a lot of it was damn good. |

The stupidity never ends.
1. The samples and dates in the guide are factual. The words are Ishkur's wry comments or rants on each genre. The guide is not a joke, but neither it everything in it an objective tool.
2. Ishkur likes classic trance. He was into trance before epic existed. Therefore, the characteristics of trance he likes are the traditional, original ones. Epic trance contains very few of these, so he dislikes it.
3. Epic trance has gone to absolute in the past five years. What was once a refreshing new take on the genre is now thoroughly raped, and even people far more tolerant than Ishkur are sick of it.
4. Ishkur is not always right. |

+1 agreed.
in general, trance has gone to these last few years, with more and more generic crap being churned out by the masses, its lost all appeal and originality, well for me anyway (im sure many of u can relate to that and the decline in quality trance tunes being released and mainstreamed) |

I'd have to agree with this. I'm always looking for older trance. Some of my favorite songs are from the album ATB - Seven Years. And even the songs in seven years are from cds before (thats why its called seven years) |

His guide is a bit all-over the place with all those different genres and sub-genre names and sometimes, the "factual" genre developments seem to be just fictional!
For example, there is a genre he calls "tribal trance" (???) which is nothing more then tribal a-la tenaglia progressive house with names like head hocho and tarantella. Then it gets much more confusing. This tribal trance (the tracks he featured are from the end of the 90s and oos right?)is supposed to precede (or just relates to?) and develope in what he calls "ibiza trance" (ibiza trance?) with such diverse names as chicane, solar stone and Humate that came from the whole spectrum of the 90s. Then ibiza trance leads to mid-90s "dream-trance" or "dream-house" with artists like robert miles...that makes no sense or whatsoever...!
Also we learn that there are two genres in "euro-trance", "anthem trance" and "epic trance". What's the actual distinction? In Ishkur's guide probably what i get is that "epic trance" is cheesier...but i think this "epic trance" genre he mentions doesn't exist at all...i mean he mentions names like paul van dyk together with Ian Van Dahl, Alice Deejay and Ayla!?I thought that Ian Van Dahl and co.were just a kind of euro-beat, euro-pop or what they funnily call in the UK as "scouse-house".
i don't know...despite that, this tune he features in the "classic trance" category, namely Caucassus- "Our Dream" is f*cking awwesomeeee!!!!!!I agree with him-this is true trance music, not of course that other forms of trance are not good. This just lives-up to its name!
And yea i'll do it again... here's two youtube videos of two classic trance tunes...ahh....trance...
