Whats up with all of these DJs putting their faces on their CDs ?

This is going to sound weird to some people, but others will know what im talking about. I've been noticing a popular trend with Djs lately that have big releases, such a AVB, ATB, etc. When they release a cd, instead of the cover representing something of great beauty, or something abstract or large in concept, they just stick the face on the entire cover of the cd.
While the skills of these djs are not in question here, I feel as though the djs should understand that trance (for alot of people anyway) is bigger than a dj, or a producer, or any single person, and I feel as though these djs do trance a huge injustice when all they picture is themselves...i feel as though it even borders arrogance to think that a single persons face can cover any trance set, no matter what dj you are ..I love it when djs have something else on the cover even if they have to include themselves on part of it, such as endless blue skies, rolling mountain tops, or even city skylines, as I feel images like these capture the true essence of trance, something much greater than any single person. I feel as though examples of djs that do their cd covers right are, Markus Schulz "miami 05", Nick Warren "Live in shanghai", Robert Miles etc, Tiesto "In search of Sunrise 4".
Does anyone else here know what I'm talking about or is this just a mindless rant ? Thanks for listening guys

They like money.

They are popstars, they sell themselves.

totally agree with you. and that especially on mixes.. where a two figured number of producers have been contributing to the music. although the DJs on GU looks pretty cool with those sunglasses.

yeh i know what u mean with the splattering of faces on covers, i think a picture of some nice scenery or artwork sells better than a self portrait of the dj/producer, fair enough if they have a pic of them in the inlay or something but as a cover thats just...whoreish.

I think it's the exact opposite.

The promo team of such compiliations figure the DJ is more important than the music itself, so they get a nice big picture of them looking off into the distance in some sort of contemplative expression. That's about it, really. The marketing team figures DJ>music.

I've come up with a fun game with such covers called "What The Are They Looking At?" Most fun when also playing the Trance Drinking Game.

When you notice that many people are only willing to hear a track if Tiesto plays it then it becomes obvious why they put the DJ on the cover.

all of the trance art covers were starting to look like lisa frank paintings anyway:

It takes a big man to make a Lisa Frank reference on a public forum.
