Wow that bassline is pretty damn hot!!
Theres only 2 things I'd have to fault, one like everyone else said, bit of note change to the bassline itself.
And the trebles, need to be restrained a bit, part from that, damn awesome track dude :D |

Melody(s) at 2ish are a little tinny.. just personal opinion though...
Bassline is cool.
Rob is right, those fills need to be sorted a bit. It sounds muddy ontop of everything else. using that sort of delay works better when there isn't a kick going on at the same time.
sound of the melody at 3:40 ish sounds a little "common" you might want to play with that a little more.
sidechain is cool when the kick comes back in on the break, but i dont like how it affects that melody.
drum fill at like 4:40 ish at the end of the break are cool
maybe studdering the bass could be cool, the sounds could be beefed up a bit, it's tough to get "twinkly" to sound solid and i am only listenin to the myspace sample... also, the crash is kinda boring as well.. seems like a heavily used sample.
all in all nice work, a nice starting point. |

Thanks for the honest and in-depth review. I appreciate the critique.
When you say that you don't like how the sidechaining affects the melody, what do you mean? Does it make the melody pulse too much?
I think some of these issues might have been easier for me to sort out if I had proper monitors. Imagine this: the speakers I am monitoring with are 2 old Technics floor-standing speakers (each with 2 12" woofers and busted mids/highs), and 2 Pioneer 4-way 6x9 automotive speakers in enclosures for mid/high duty. LOL, it's ghetto as hell. Sounds surprisingly nice for simple listening or partying... but obviously less than ideal for monitoring.
edit: also, were you able to get my set downloaded? Sorry you were having trouble... |

Basically I mean that when you have the it sidechained during the melody, that sidechain is affecting the melody, and I don't think it sounds very good on this particular track. I suppose it does make the melody "pulse" too much, but really the fact that it pulses just sort of bothers me... more of my own opinion really. Had you changed the sound and made it pules it could maybe sound better, but as it is, with the same sound which doesn't pulse anywhere else - i don't think it fits well. |

Thanks Karol. :)
What is it you didn't like about the clap? The delay, perhaps? |

Holy Buckets! That bassline is wodnerfully wierd.
The intro percs seemed a tad strange at times before the breakdown. A little busy without fulfilling the groove -- but that's just me.
Some of the noises during the breakdown were rather loud in high freqs to me. Otherwise, it's not bad.
I'm not sure I like the trancy-bing-ding lead that appears 4/6th of the way in the track.
The second break is just, well, wierd. It's like a mutant glockenspiel.
Very dancy prog. Coolness overall, but I suppose I wasn't ready for it. |

Thanks, B_man. Apparently, it's generally agreed that the bassline is a hit and the perc fills were a miss. :) |
