I think it's pretty clear that this is head and shoulders above the typical amateur tracks posted here in terms of both the listenability of the track and the mastering.I'll try to be rather critical.
- My ears could be deceiving me but it sounds like the kick loses some of its power for a few bars right before the bassline comes in (around the 30 second mark). Maybe that was intentional.
- Nice full bassline and the voice-bass thing is quite unique. The kick is also very well mastered. It could be nice to have a quick perc loop a bar before the bassline comes in.
- the introduction of the high chimes/bells melody gives the track a nice flavor without getting overbearing. Still, I think that keeping the full melody in there well after the first breakdown can get a tiny bit too much. More importantly, I'm also not sure the full melody completely matches the bassline melody well. It almost seems like the chime melody fights that of the bassline just a bit. Perhaps you could mess around with the chimes melody just a bit to make the chime+bassline melody compliment each other more. Whatever you do, though, don't touch the bassline :D. That's pretty good.
- Not sure I like the first breakdown as much as the rest of the track. The kick also seems to come back from out of nowhere. Perhaps you could have the sub-bass (not the voice-sounding part) gradually build in through about 8 bars before the kick comes back?
- I might like a bit more perc work through the middle of the track to change things up a bit.
Other than that, *very* impressive. |

Intresting track. Inspirational even.
Wish i had more to say regarding it, but apart from the bass which i think is more an issue with my AKG's than your track i dont have any other negative points. |

- As you have probably already heard, this baseline is ridiculously good.
- The delay you put on the high hats does not sound natural almost sounds as if two songs were overlapping their high hats.
- The first breakdown: when the measure begins at 2:13 you should introduce your baseline but heavily filtered and gradually build it up to the comeback at 2:28. See how it sounds. I would like to see how this baseline sounds when it's filtered; I presume it would sound very nice.
- I do not like the sound at 3:32. It could be a matter of taste but it did not seem to fit the grungy-eerie feel of the song.
- The delay you put at 3:55 sounds appropriate for transition to the breakdown. I think you should take out the delay you put on the high hats in the rest of the song and work on making this transition sound a bit clearer (still sounds like too much delay).
Overall: this is the best baseline I have heard in 7 years of EDM. This could easily be played in a club and it would probably rip the roof off. Very nice groove to this track, I enjoyed it very much. |
