how many of you people can relate?

this year i was excited cus i thought i could ask my parents for turn tables ive been telling them about it for a long time now. ive been djing using traktor 3 for awhile now but i wanne get into the real thing at first my dad was kind of into it he said he can get me a club gig when i turn 18 (this is before i told him i play trance) he thought i wanted to be a hip hop dj because rap was the only thing i was listening to until last january when i got introduced to edm (ive been hooked ever since) anyways my parents divorced this summer and my dad never talks about my djing anymore even when i play trance in the car he will never ask about it or anything.( he always said you have a good taste when i used to play hip hop in the car) so anyways i asked them both this year for turn tables and they both said if i want to have a hobbie like this buy it with your own hard earned money or wait till your done school, and you have a career. i dont think they understand that i want this as my career.

lol if you need your parents to pay for your decks how will you pay for your vinyl?

As far as considering this a potential career don't even think about that until you've played in public for a fair amount of time, have a real following and also getting PAID

My parents have always been very helpful, but never just gave me anything. It was difficult for me to get jobs your north american/europeans might consider normal, like an after school job etc because I was living in third world countries for most it. When i got my decks I got them as a combined bday/xmas/bdaymoney/xmasmoney collected over like 2 years :p

Now however, i need to buy a whole lot of producing gear, which i will have to pay for myself with money earned hopefully working this summer.

I'd also like to add my parents have been very supportive of my musical endeavors and have even made it one of my gigs :p
