Marriage is an equal partnership - both parties need to be contributing at (close to) the same level for it to be successful.
Each party can (and usually does) contribute in different ways and at different levels at different times - but the overall input/output must have some sort of equilibrium for things to work.
Successful marriages/relationships have (relative) equal contribution ingrained into pretty much every aspect of the relationship: love, friendship, commitment, fidelity, passion, appreciation, housework/chores, financial, child-rearing, dedication, socializing, interests, support, communication, teamwork, collaboration, respect, understanding, patience, adoration, etc, etc, etc.
IMO - this is the key difference between an "OK"/"good" relationship and a great, enduring, totally fulfilling and lasting one. |
