I'm a big fan of Halo 1 and Halo 2. I have to disagree when you say the graphics weren't good even when they came out. I thought they were phenomenal when they came out. For me, it set a graphical standard for a few games. Gorgeous backround rendering, and I really liked the idea of playing on another planet. My biggest complaint with Halo was the enemies, I thought the little alien guys, the basic ones, were too cartoonish. Everytime you shot them they yelped in a high pitched voice :stongue:

Also, I'm a big sci-fi nerd. So the storyline was boring and the gameplay short, but being able to run around shooting up aliens and blowing up...too fun :p

what about vehicles that this game def. came through with the use of them

That's the grunts' mentality, though. They're supposed to act like a pack of high-pitched dogs.

Speaking of which, the latest Halo 3 commercial would make a ton more sense if you read the books. At least the first scene.

why? i actually have to agree with spc's statement (maybe not the * cuz that'd be the ENTIRE universe), and that's after playing countless hours of both. goldeneye on license to kill made for some hilarious deaths. the replay value of goldeneye multiplayer > halo 1 or 2 imo. you don't have to agree but it's not a stupid statement either.

*edit* maybe the * is a bit overgeneralizing, but maybe the * is for FPS haha

because there is no way that goldeneye is the best FPS game ever. thats just a typical nintendo fanboy's comment. if he'd said goldeneye was the best console FPS then he might have a point, as it stands its just a stupid statement to say its the best FPS ever.

by whose standards? yours?

i don't consider myself a fanboy but it's the most enjoyable to me for many reasons. it's not because it has the slickest graphics, nor most manageable controls, but because it's FUN.

well, who's standards would be more important to me than mine?

look, it might be your favourite game. that doesn't make it the best FPS ever, as judged by the various characteristics that make a good FPS better than the competition. the ONLY people that will tell you goldeneye is the best FPS of all time are nintendo fanboys, mostly coz their experience of the genre is severely limited.

I'm a firm believer that Halo is only popular because Xbox had horrible games until Halo came out. If you equate Halo to any FPS experience with all platforms at that time then it was just another FPS with nothing special but if you compared Halo to all the other Xbox games at that time it was special and a must have for the system.

Halo's story goes far more in depth then most people think. People who dont know , make threads like this all the time.

Interesting enough i like how Halo's Universe is partly based on the Bible. Think about that for a second.
