| I dont know where people get off this idea that Tiesto wants to become a tech-house or "underground" dj. 80% of his sets is still trance based tunes. At the start very downtempo but he still picks it up. Im sure he wants to play diverse material but as for him turning to house that is simply a myth |

Does anyone know why he switched styles. He played amazing trance and techno 2000-2005, and now tech-house. Has he said why he changed? |
Altho i'm one of the contributors hyping the "new style" its very overhyped...
He still plays trance, but its just 1 of a few genres in his cd bag.
In my opinion, that means he is just being a regular DJ, finally, for the first time in about 3 years. |

Exactly.. the only exceptions to this rule have been a few very low-key parties with less than 1000 people in attendance.
The whole set-up for 2007, two nights, one more intimate and "housey" than a shownight, should set the record straight about where his style is going in terms of completely changing genre anytime soon. |

| anyway, one thing is for sure. the new album is coming next year. Including a "Adagio For Strings"-ish tune. |

I really enjoy tiesto's sets nowadays. really varied stuff going from deeper housey stuff to trance, tech trance and even a little bit of techno. I loved his old trance sets but I dont think there is as much good trance nowadays and thankfully it seems he thinks the same, and his style has changed accordingly.
I hear people rave about sean tyas, o'callaghan etc. I've never seen them live but looking at their tracklistings, its the same type of trance tune again and again. Unless you are a die hard fan of this sound, it gets incredibly tedious.
And thats what i like about tiesto's sets - they keep you intersted (despite the mixing :D ) |
